Re: When officers break the law...

Dialogue is good.

1) This guy WAS moving toward police, they both were...and seeing as police esentially walked past the first guy, something else (out of camera frame) clearly drew their attention...again I await ALL the facts...

However this guy's shirt was torn, from a previous assault, had he already been described to police as violent or ...

Re: When officers break the law...

1) Ok we disagree, how was this guy not A POTENTIAL THREAT, people who assault police are the ones who moves slow to comply while they formulate an improvised attack, almost every time I've been assaulted it came out of a situation where some was hesitant to comply, it's recognized indicia of assaultive behaviour...why else wouldn't you immediately ...

Re: serious defence for serial ticketers.

JPs don't chew officers up in court, never seen it happen in 22 years...still it sounds like you were wrongly ticketed...good thing the system works, mostly...

Re: When officers break the law...

You found a few articles which is good...but historically speaking people in a position of trust are punished more severely than the general public.

You haven't convinced yet that we don't get it worse.

You get into a collision, reporting center, no charges.

I get into one, charges plus internal discipline by way of police act charges. Yeah we ...

Re: Ticket but not in my car

Being charged can be unfortunate, but is it wrong?

Wrong is being convicted for something you didn't do...if the police had an eyewitness, even a mistaken one, and didn't pursue their duties, that would be wrong too?

It's unfortunate that you find yourself in this predicament, get a lawyer...and best of luck. The truth generally has a way of ...

Re: serious defence for serial ticketers.

So you want to show yourself obeying the law?

What if it showed you breaking the law? Would you turn the tape over to police and request your ticket?

No one thinks all police/bankers/doctors/librarians/dentists/lawyers(especially them)/baristas/morning show hosts/politicians/drivers are honest. True police powers can mess with people's lives, but ...

Re: Should this driver be charged with Careless Driving?

Actually careless driving is possibly the easiest charge in the HTA to prove. Having investigated over 1000 collisions, I almost always lay a Careless Driving charge. A collision is almost always as a result of carelessness by one or both drivers.

Don't get me wrong, there is generally some leeway in court and I work with everyone charged to try ...

Re: Ticket but not in my car

Well, go to your first appearance date, request full disclosure.

They must have witnesses, cause had they witnessed it they would have likely arrested you right away.

In essence find out what the evidence is...

Re: When officers break the law...

No doubt, I was just making a point...not trying to win the discussion...

The way we society function has been around for eons, it works for most of us most of the time...show mw a country or society in modern times that functions better than we do using your proposed system...

Re: serious defence for serial ticketers.

And while you may believe slower cars cause accident check the NHTSI website to see if you can find any proof of this.

But SEVERITY of injuries is, according to the laws (not common laws, but the laws of...) physics indicated that energy has to go somewhere.

Slower speeds means great reaction time and reduced carnage.

Pretty simple huh?

A ...

Re: serious defence for serial ticketers.

It's in the annodated, I just don't have a copy handy...

But the court of appeals have found it lawful for police to stop vehicle to check for proof of licence, permit and insurance.

It's fairly common and has been upheld, despite being challenged, by the courts.

As for showy cars...I didn't have an illegal tint, loud exhaust or any other mods ...

Re: Driver definition

CoolChick, like I said you seem to have your convictions about this stuff, but your thought process isn't particularly mainstream and while I'M CERTAIN you'd just tell me the mainstream is composed of a bunch of unthinking, brainwashed cow types...we the mainstream are happy with the system.

Majority rules.

Not about to change...

Yes!!

CoolChick would take a very strict view or organ donor, prohitibiting me from giving my keyboard tot he local church.

Sorry CC, I'm JK (mostly).
