Re: School Bus cross-traffic

Ontario's Highway Traffic Act Section 175, (9), FORBIDS a school bus from activating it's overhead red signal-lights at:
~ an intersection controlled by traffic signals;
~ at a stop sign;
~ near a crosswalk;
~ at school bus loading zones.

Re: Red Light Camera Ticket- Early Resolution

Signage is certain Ontario must be in both French and English.
If it isn't, it may be possible for the charge to be withdrawn.
The key is that the municipality must have a bylaw accepting this condition in their municipality. Windsor is one such place.

Re: Might have passed school bus stop.

Another reason to always have a dash cam recording.
If you can prove any of the following, you could get the charge withdrawn:
A) the stop sign must be fully flipped out from the side of the bus;
B) was there a raised median beside the bus;
C) was the bus the proper distance from the intersection

It may have been 1 year but it is 18 months now.
If you cause any delays within that 18 months, it doesn't extend it.
If the Crown causes any delays, that's good for you and it's their problem … it doesn't extend the 18 month period.

Lester B. Pearson airport.

Does Ontario's HTA apply on Toronto Pearson airport roads ? Signage is not even close to conforming to the regulations.
I think there might be a federal airport act than governs airports in Canada.

As bend mentioned, check if the spot was marked according to the regulations. In many municipalities, the sign must be permanently fixed into the ground or affixed to a structure. It cannot be on a movable stand or just a painted symbol on the ground.

It sounds like you may have been on hospital property.

If so, I'm under the impression that much of the Highway Traffic Act is unenforceable.

Maybe someone with more HTA experience could comment.

Re: Passed school bus that only had red lights flashing in opposing traffic lane.

The Safer School Buses Act of 2021 would require all Ontario provincial school buses manufactured after 2005 to be equipped with the amber-red dual lamp warning system by September 2022, which would match the safety laws in place throughout the rest of Canada and across the U.S.

Mike Harris, the member of provincial parliament representing ...

Re: Passed school bus that only had red lights flashing in opposing traffic lane.

The school bus must be STOPPED.

If it's still moving, you're not breaking any laws.

However, cutting it close could draw unwanted attention from police, so you're always wise to prepare to stop anytime you see a school bus.

If it was me, I would hire a personal injury lawyer. That's their business and they're good at it !!. Initial consultation if usually free ... but they get to keep a portion of the settlement if they (you) win.

If there was no advance warning and you immediately hit a 6" deep pothole, you might have a good case.

However, if you proceeded any ...

Is a driver allowed to tow a "Device" without a plate, such as a wheeled cement mixer or large wheeled air compressor, etc. ?

As long as it isn't more than 1.5 meters past the rear of the vehicle, I understood it didn't require a red flag or even a license plate ??

Re: Pedestrian Disobey Red Light

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're NOT operating a motor vehicle and a peace officer suspects you've committed an offence, all that is legally required is that you provide satisfactory identification, ie Ontario Health Card, passport, etc. Surrendering a driver's licence is not required and should be avoided.

Re: bicycle fails to trip green light sensor coil

Small blocks of metal are sold especially for this problem and can be attached to the bottom of bicycles, footwera and motorcycles so that the wires in the ground can detect a "vehicle". Usually you can see the wire's location imbedded into the pavement.
