Re: Free Online Breathalyzer Test!
Interesting! It says I could drink (4) screwdrivers in (1) hour and I'd still blow under 80!

Re: Left Turn when light turns, before letting oncoming traffic
Got a better example last night. This happens frequently at this intersection because apposing cars are often numerous enough that only ONE car in "my" direction will make the light. When the first car zips out first like this, he has allowed for at least one more car behind him to make the light as well. Sometimes being courteous is complicated ...

Re: 12hr vs 3 day Suspension
Is there any way to test ourselves for future reference?
ex. I would like to pound down 4 beers in one hour then blow. Is any police service willing to assist me?
We know when we're speeding... we can see the speedometer. But I (and most folks, I suspect) have no idea when they're JUST over the limit with alcohol.

Re: Even the Police are not exempt
I've been told that this is the SECOND officer to get nailed. I'm assuming they were "off-duty" right? Police aren't subject to the HTA while on duty, correct? Or is it just when they are on an actual call, not just on duty?

If the driver was going through all the gears as indicated, ...
Nah.. he just performed the standard "car guy" thing; accelerate hard(ish) through first, use up a bit of second, then let off. No high speed involved. Just getting that high you feel when pinned back in your seat for a second or too. If you're not into muscle cars, you'll never ...

Re: Errors and Omissions
Just be aware that the officer has 30 days to write a new ticket (I think). My own personal paranoia would have me pleading not-guilty then waiting for my court date to arrive in the mail. The court date will likely fall outside the 30 day time limit. At that time, I would request that the Crown withdraw the charge. If he doesn't, I'd proceed to ...

Re: Errors and Omissions
It's May 13 today. Clarify the offense date please (April perhaps??).
If NO date is written on the ticket, it can not be amended by the judge. I would assume the WRONG date would be considered the same as no date. Be sure you don't offer the correct date into evidence. Try to establish (with witnesses) where you were on the 26th (of April I'll ...

Now I've seen everything...
Just a few minutes ago, I ran across the street to grab a quick sub, then headed back to work. As I approached the street, I heard the sweet sound of a hi-performance V8 coming up through the gears (far from foot-to-floor, but was definitely "workin")! I turn to look and its a real nice custom Chevy Trailblazer with a ...

...which is illegal even for the cop.
Not true. Police officers are exempt from traffic laws while performing their duty.
I, too, would fight this charge. I would be sure to question the officer (on the stand) about the cars between. I would make a closing statement describing the entire situation, then hope the judge is fair and unbiased when ...

Re: Crossmark vs Checkmark
Minor errors will not quash the ticket. In your case, I wouldn't even consider it to be an "error" at all. If an error on the ticket were to violate a right of the defendant (such the wrong statute specified), then it would likely be dismissed.

Re: Left Turn when light turns, before letting oncoming traffic
Fair enough, the degradation in quality from the original to the Youtube upload is considerable. My summer car is coming out soon and it has a much better quality setup in it.
For this example, you'll just have to take my word for it that there was NO advance green. Both directions turn green at the same time, for all lanes. The camera car just ...

Re: Penalties for speeding
Observations from last weeks' trip to Toronto/Hamilton:
This was my first drive to "impound-country" since its inception. During the day, the 403 seemed to be moving at a slower rate than "pre-203". But leaving Toronto around 11:00pm, there was no doubt that speeds have not changed very much. The left (passing) lane typically averaged around 130 ...

Why have you made that assumption? You are wrong. The"camara car" has no advance green.
But you have uncovered a VERY IMPORTANT issue. If the apposing car does not move, should we not be allowed to go? By law, how long are we supposed to wait before we can legally turn "across"? I ...

Turning left "first":
Is this turn subject to impoundment??

(Sorry for the really bad quality... I'm going to use high-res option from now on.)

Re: fight stop sign
The HTA is different than the Criminal Code in that under the HTA, the Crown can accept your offer to change the offense to an unrelated offense. The JP doesn't have to accept this "deal", but he likely will if it's clear that both you AND the prosecutor are in agreement.
I'd propose a change to Improper Muffler or some other non-moving violation ...
