Orange means "temporary" or "construction zone".Brian wrote:"Right Lane Exits" on an orange sign. That is all I thought that is a recommendation not a law.
Yellow means recommended.

Re: car-bicycle accident- fail to remain...
Sidewalks are for walking pedestrians only. That's why they're called pedestrian sidewalks, not bike paths. Motorists should only expect to encounter walking pedestrians when exiting a street.
Perhaps the law sees it different. This is just my opinion. If a cyclist, skateboarder, roller-blader, etc. hits me, I too would sue for damages.

Re: First Ticket - Fighting it - Need help!
I would take a couple pictures and challenge the ticket on the basis of the safety issue. I believe this would be considered a Strict Liability charge which allows you to challenge it based on the fact that you took "reasonable steps" in preventing a more serious accident. I think a Justice would recognize that you acted in good faith.

Re: rule for distance behind another vehicle
Very true. I usually only end up "close" if I have to abandon my pass at the last second. It also depends on what vehicle I'm driving (power/handling), road conditions, and especially where the guy in front of me is positioned in his lane. Ever notice that most pickup truck mirrors block your view of oncoming traffic?

... is the speedometer visible?
It is, but I can't seem to get decent quality out of Youtube. Also, this tape has been overwritten about 20 times. Still good enough for fault evidence though.

Re: Disobey Official Sign
I used the distances from the Registered Plan for the area. I could be "stretching" the 60 metres for about 3 metres or so. The lights in this pic are about 55 metres apart. Maybe non-standard because of the intersection on the left (barely in view) which makes a short block.

Re: Global TV's street racing special tonight
Tonight's (Wed.) episode demonstrated how TV producers can really destroy an important story.
The focus tonight was on a women who lost her daughter to a street racer. There were two cars involved in a race (though it was reported that the other motorist was found not-guilty). The speeding car was estimated to be driving in excess of 170kph in a ...

Re: Disobey Official Sign
I was going to present this pic a few years ago when defending against a "roll stop sign" ticket. I'm leaning a tad to the right-most part of the lane (at exactly 60m) and a tree is clearly obstructing the sign. But I read somewhere that a sign must still be obeyed, even if obstructed, if it is obvious it is there. I probably would have lost my ...

Re: How I got here...
I was at the local auto wreckers the other day and was stunned to see a framed picture on the wall of our most successful street racer from the early 80's (in the '56). Here he can been seen smokin' another out-of-towner (Camero) out on the Amulree Road (1/4 mile marked out with white lines). This pic would be from around 1980. The thing that ...

Re: Need some help please!!
If your court day is tomorrow and you don't have an extensive plan to attack the laser evidence, then you only have two choices that I can see:
1) Get a continuance based on lack of time to prepare (due to late disclosure).
2) Work a plea with the Crown just before trial (he will seek you out).
Perhaps you could suggest that in order to avoid the ...

Re: Not HTA. Disclosure question
Yah, I know it's not HTA (per title) but the process seems to be the same. The thing that bugs me is the boys were told not to leave the park. The rangers came back 35 minutes later with tickets they said they weren't going to write.
I'm not sure if they were legally bound to remain, but I would have been long gone.
