Re: Ticket going 45 over - instead of 15

I drove by that spot today!
In order for him to nail you,he had to hit you at the top of the ramp, and then make his way across 3 lanes of traffic and flag you over!

Just a thought for the OP, another 5km/h over the PSL and you would have been branded a "Stunt Driver"

Did the officer tag you on the ramp or on Lakeshore?

Hi,
You have just one drivers licence, all demerit points will go against your licence, not the class!

So I say Fight it

-- If an offender appears to have done something so serious that he needs to be removed from the highways immediately, suspend his licence and/or arrest him under non-172 provisions of the law and let the courts deal with him in due course. But this pernicious nonsense that allows arbitrary seizure and impoundment should have no place in our ...

Re: What are your Driving Pet Peeves?

people on cell phones. Period.

Also I hate "cutters" as well. I see it everyday. Doesn't have to be in a construction zone, it happens everywhere. Why do we make highways with lanes that end? Why do people use them when they know the lane will end, and why do people let them in? I always make sure a "cutter' ends up behind me. I'm always hoping ...

Re: Street racing?

All of this "stunt driving" or "racing" was already against the law before Bill 203. The penalties available for driving, say, 160 on the 401 were reasonable enough under the HTA. For dangerous driving (example: 238 in an 80 on Highway 26), and for street racing, there was section 249 of the Criminal Code... and still is. And the Criminal Code ...

Re: Street racing?

I agree with Reflections (except for the math part). 755 people were penalized for something they were never convicted of. And of those, 229 were not guilty of anything. That's just wrong.

The whole law is wrong!
If those 755 people who were penalized, recieved their up front fees back, the plane would be brought down and sold on ebay, pilot ...

Re: Street racing?

Since 1999 to 2007 there have been 35 street racing related deaths
They construed those numbers around so well, we now have 172
and 11,000 disasters have been averted

The Petition will be cleaned up in the next few days!

No I don't think there should even be the 7 day suspension, even though some in my opinion deserve that and much more!
I won't dispute that driving is a privilage that some people take for granted!
Anyway you look at it, anyone who resides or visits Canada has the same rights, and those rights ...

Re: Street racing?

Sorry Hwybear I disagree with your 90 day licence suspension

I do think if you do over 50 the PSL, you should have to pay the piper, only after your day in court and not on the roadside, and if I am not mistaken there were laws in place for this type of offence prior to BILL 203, just a wild uneducated guess, but there was little or no CASH ...
