Re: Toronto motorists face new one minute idling bylaw

Honest to goodness, I am just astonished at this. It is so lacking in common sense that it begs the question of what, if anything, are the requirements to run for councillor in the City of Toronto? Do any of these nitwits who wrote and voted for this farce of a by-law share one cell of active brain matter among them? I cannot understand why there ...

Re: Toronto motorists face new one minute idling bylaw

The inmates are running the asylum in Toronto. Without heavy exceptions, this law is a nightmare. I would love to see it spoofed on the Rick Mercer Report. I am also very glad I moved.

Stupid, stupid councillors. Looks like they drank the koolaid.

Re: The Loud Muffler Backlash Begins...

Hwybear, now that you've got me thinking about it, I don't hear an MC until it has or is in the process of passing me. It's always a distant noise whereby I can't determine its location - whether it is behind me to the left/right, or a few cars back.

RI, I HATE noisy MCs as well. That became one of my biggest pet peeves upon moving here. I think ...

Re: The Loud Muffler Backlash Begins...

We have two issues of loud MC mufflers in our neighbourhood. One with the guy behind us who revs it up on summer weekend mornings (much to the consternation of my hubby, who, if I let him, would wrap the muffler around his neck), and a 1%er living down the street from us who blares his crappy MC radio and has a muffler even louder than the guy ...

Re: Good paralegal in Niagara Region?

TCS Paralegal is in Hamilton, and either he does Niagara or can connect you with a paralegal that can.

Here's the website: http://www.tcsparalegal.ca/

I found him extremely helpful, personable, and knowledgeable.

Re: Side mirror collision on road with parked cars on one side

There isn't a way to prove it now, and in Ontario we have a no fault system by default. Her insurance will pay her damage, yours will pay for yours. That's the way it is, even if fault was determined by an officer at the scene. She, ultimately, wants someone other than *her* to pay for her damages. So, she can go through her insurance and the ...

Re: merging

I experienced a road rage incident due to this exact mentality a couple of years ago. I was driving east on the 403, and at either the Erin Mills or Winston Churchill onramp, I was in the far right lane during rush hour traffic, and an obviously unbalanced guy expected me to move out of the right lane so he could merge. I imagine some of his ...

Re: Side mirror collision on road with parked cars on one side

This is something I deal with constantly living on a street running north/south and street parking alternating on east/west sides of the street depending on which half of the month we're in. The way we all operate is that overtaking and passing rules apply, but from what I understand as well, the driver on the side of the parked cars must yield to ...

Re: Speed Signs NOT on White Background & S 199 of HTA

Thank you all for your help. My IE had a glitch yesterday. I couldn't click on the plus signs to the left of the act to get to the regs and thought elaws had moved them. Still, I find I'm having trouble determining which regs to select when I'm looking for something like this. There's so many (regs), and the searches I do don't turn up anything ...

Speed Signs NOT on White Background & S 199 of HTA

I remember reading on a thread here on this forum that speed signs that were not on the white background with black writing would not catch a speeding ticket? Or something of that nature, and I may be utterly bastardizing what was said here, so I'm looking to find the thread but can't. This topic came up by a relative and I didn't know if it was ...

Re: Lazy Generation?

Speaking of having to figure things out ourselves and maturing, Radar Identified, my cousin went to war with a cab company because her 24 year old was so drunk one night that she couldn't take money out of her ATM, so the cabbie took her iPod as payment. Rather than cousin's daughter call and fight it herself, her mother did for her! At 24, she is ...

Re: Lazy Generation?

With all *due* respect, ManlyMan, I haven't commented on anything regarding my volunteering duties in my personal life, so you wouldn't know what I contribute to. I wouldn't at this juncture either, as it's extremely uncouth to brag about one's charity in order to win a virtual pissing contest.

Many of the techie generation and beyond suffer from ...

Re: Lazy Generation?

ManlyMinute, what is your point? I cannot do "anything" save and except where it concerns my own child. BTW, that is THE solution, as it's teaching our contribution to the next generation to be active and interested in their own health/lives. It means less of a drain on healthcare, social services, and more contribution to the economy.
