Failing To Stop

by: bobajob on

Hey Gent's

Has been a long time, so this is regarding mrs.bobajob.

She got a ticket for "failing to stop at a stop sign" although we have a dashcam and she swore she stopped, she didn't TELL me about it for 2 days. So all dash footage was recorded over (DOH !)

Now I checked the ticket out no fatal errors in it.

BUT, on talking with my 7 year old, yesterday she told me what happened in some more detail.

Apparently a "police car stopped them spoke to mummy, said she should drop me off to school and come back"

Now, the area where she was stopped is on a school route, the i/s has CLEAR markings where the stop sign, I ALWAYS stop there, I think they where doing a safety crack down, and rightly so, apparently it was a plain clothes car.

The initial stop was about 3-400 yards from the school, so the LEO, told my wife to drop the DD and come back, which she did so.. I thought on this.

1> Is this normal/consistent with a stop of this nature?

2> Why would an LEO suggest this

3> Suppose my wife didn't come back and just came home/went to work

4> Could this be used in any way as a fatal error.flaw

I have no audio or video of the "alleged" infraction nor of the officer interaction or the drive of and come back to the officer, which pee's me off no end.

Thanks in advance

BTW, not liking the new layout format :(

BUT glad yall are still about and ok

MYSELF, my speeding ticket came off about 6 months ago as far as insurance are concerned and no further sinning (in the eyes of the law) - touch wood !

1. No

2. trying to be nice so as to get your kid to school on time ?

3. They would have had the plate. Did they take the licence or at least make a note of it ?

4. Nope, it all happened after the offence which is what matters.

Former Ontario Police Officer. Advice will become less relevant as the time goes by !
