Didn't See The No Right Turn On Red Sign!

Unread post by bahbahbah »

So I am leaving the Downsview Flea Market on Sunday Jan 15 at 2pm and I am turning right from Carl Hall Road onto Sheppard Ave. West. There are no other cars on the road and a cop is pulled up on the grass area and walks onto the street to point me over.

He says that there are 3 signs for no right turns on the red. It was sunny and I honestly didn't see them. This was my first time in this area. He didn't let me explain, just took my license, proof of ownership and insurance, went to his car for 10 minutes and then comes back and says you made a right turn on the red light and there are 3 signs, you have disobeyed the signs.

Totally turned my $1 purchase at the flea market into a $111 purchase. I am very mad. He is sitting there waiting to catch people when clearly if the signs were properly posted he wouldn't be there cashing in!!!

He then says that I have 15 days to decide if I want to fight it.

Help! What should I do????

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thank you!

It comes out of downsview base onto sheppard.Just east of Keele.

I am not sure if it is a private road or it may be covered under federal?

The signs may not be valid?(not sure)

The road is there though a few movie companies and a major recyclers there.

not sure about google maps even being close.Maybe because it is an army base they cannot show all?

There is a road going to sheppard lights and all.

It is difficult place to figure out what address is what.almost as hard for me to find as the net crime office of opp.lol

If you are on sheppard east of Keele and look south ,at the lights, you will see the flea market sign.

I believe you can see the road on the satellite map, at the intersection of Tuscan Gate & Sheppard. I'm guessing Tuscan becomes Carl Hall on the other side of Sheppard. I can see one no right on red sign on a traffic light on the west side of the road. It looks like it should be visible to traffic, but no idea where the other two are.

Do sign's fall under the same rules posted on an army base as outside the base?

It might depend on where the signs are posted?

I am not sure.
