Well, you've asked a general question, to which the general answer would be "Yes, fight it. And consider hiring a paralegal since careless is a serious charge".
Can you provide some more information? Such as:
- Time of day
- Type of road, speed limit on said road
- location
- your speed
+ anything else you can think of that would explain your ...

Re: 90 in 70 zone reduced to 80-fight or not
I don't doubt it, lol. You could probably sit there with your lights flashing and still catch people. Hell, when I first got my license at 17 I ran a red light down the street from a police station with a cruiser right behind me (D'oh!). I started paying more attention after that.

Re: 90 in 70 zone reduced to 80-fight or not
Well, the police usually hide when doing radar, they wouldn't catch many people of they sat in plain sight..... and consider your self lucky, I never heard of anyone getting dealt with that quickly. Like the others said, request all the info you want when you ask for disclosure. I don't see how he was trying to cover anything up. Was probably ...

Re: 144 (9)
Honestly I dont really care about the $110 dollars fine, if i can get out of this with a plea of no demerit points im happy. Since I have 14 days to reply a response in which option I would like to take. Should I go to the court and pick option 3 and file for notice of intention to appear in court, ASAP? Plus the longer I can delay this the ...

Re: Successful 11b filed, case thrown out today
$250 + tax to represent (included filing the ticket, appearing in court to represent me (twice), then another $50 to file the paperwork for the 11b. I could of done the paperwork myself if I wanted to, but I didn't want to risk screwing it up (since the ticket could affect my career), and didn't want to be bothered taking the time to do it, so I ...

Successful 11b filed, case thrown out today
Wanted to share my experience as people ask about this a lot.
*Please note that I chose a para legal service to represent me and file the 11b for me, as this is my first time going to traffic court, and was unsure of the procedures*
- Got a ticket for failing to stop at a red light at O'Conner Dr and Woodbine Ave. back in September 13, 2010 ...

The above suggestions seem sensible to me.

Not really, lots of places offer that service. OTT Legal outside of the Markham court house offers to do it for 10$ or something around that price, I'm sure other para.'s do it as well.

Re: Charged for Right Turn on Green Light
The fact that you didn't see the sign, or ignorance to the existence of a such a sign isn't much of a defense (as you seem to realise)...... What does the officers notes say? And (assuming you went back there to check what the sign said) what was the sign? According to google maps zoom in view, the only sign there is for northbound Bay that says no ...

Re: No right turn during certain times
Where did this happen (exact location)?
Your post doesn't make sense, first you state the officer is there pulling cars over, then claim he's handing out tickets in the middle of the street? Then you saw the officer motioning for cars to pull over and thought he was waving you through the turn? Then you were caught in the intersection and had ...

Re: Pulled over for 78 in a 50, told i have suspended licenc
Just an FYI, Eglinton is 50 km/h west of laird. Travelling eastboud, it goes up to 60 as you go down the big hill. Cops are always doing radar along the stretch between Laird and Bayview (and along most of Eglinton east of there up to Victoria Park, for that matter). So for future reference, don't speed along Eglinton, or drive in the bus lane ...

Re: Centre turn lane as a passing lane
Technically speaking even if the other person illegally used the turn lane, you could still be charged for failing to yield from a private drive. Under insurance fault determination rules which are separate from the HTA, you'd be 100% at fault as well I believe.

Re: Cellphone ticket while looking for address
With regards to your drinking coffee while driving inquiry, it would make sense that you could get a ticket for it. I've never heard of it happening, but I have heard of people getting a ticket for eating (a sandwich) while driving. Where do you really draw the line between the two?

Question about rules of the road I can't find in the OHTA
So I've been reading the HTA (http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/statutes/english/elaws_statutes_90h08_e.htm) as I was curious about whether or not a couple things were illegal, and I can't find any reference to them in the HTA. If someone more knowledgeable could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it!
