Re: Fail to drive in marked lane...

Unrelated to your ticket, but this is a huge pet peeve of mine. Keep to the right lane unless you need to pass someone. You should never be passed by vehicles in the "slow lane" (illegal for you) and conversely, you shouldn't pass vehicles to your left (legal, but not a good driving practice).

Well, he said he got stuck behind a transport truck ...

Re: I don't know if the cop used a radar or not - what next?

Yeah sounds like moving radar. My dad drives for the TTC, and along certain routes he routinely see the TPS doing rolling radar. I doubt you would of gotten a ticket if he didn't use radar (I was doing 95 in a 60 one time, the cop (who was stopped it a perpendicular street) pulled me over because he "witnessed my vehicle travelling faster than the ...

Re: failure to surrender insurance card

Law is law, the officer is there to enforce it, not debate it. I'd hazard a guess that the police record warning like this in an effort to track fraudsters. If someone has a collection of old insurance slips, licences or whatever lying around it would raise a red flag.

I've known several people in the past who will insure their car, put plates on ...

Tickets remain on the MTO database for LIFE, to which the police and Prosecutors have the ability to use for trial purposes

Re: Roadside Suspension

hmm...thats odd the cop didn't give him a suspension notice...

seems a little harsh, since when did breathalizers not give you the actual amount...it just gave him an A figure....no actual reading...

this seems like a dictatorship, you can't even contest the charge...how ridiculous

Well, there technically is no "charge", it's a warning.

The ...

This from here http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/safety/impaired/fact-sheet.shtml

It's a warning, so why would you get a ticket?

Fact Sheet: NEW Roadside Licence Suspensions

We're serious about removing dangerous drivers from our roads. Those who choose to drive after drinking endanger themselves and everyone else.

Re: How long does a conviction stay on your record?

Tickets come off of your abstract at three years. There are different types of abstracts, however. The three year abstract is the regular one, and if you apply for a job somewhere, it's going to be the one they request. Demerit Points come off of your abstract at 2 years. I think the next one is a 5 year abstract which has some more detailed info ...

Re: Internet has it's Dis-Advantages

I would not blame new citizens of Canada. I simply blame "bad drivers".
Overall, there are multiple factors that attribute to this problem in poor weather:
- speed
- road surface
- vehicle equipment (tires, wipers, clean windows, washer fluid, lights, brakes etc.)
- driving experience in these conditions
- eye lead
- not over-driving what you can ...

Re: Internet has it's Dis-Advantages

The point that has been presented is simply this - governing the speed of everyone on the road will not reduce the number of accidents on the road, quite the contrary, as higher speed limits in other countries prove that faster speeds equal less accidents.
however, from the posts I have read, those other countries have way higher standards in ...

How have we gotten off track? You've asserted that governor's are a good idea, a couple of us have disagreed with and presented arguments to support our belief's, and now suddenly we're off track?

Re: No Validated Permit, but for suspicious reasons

If the O.P./owner acquire Ontario permits and present them to the court, could they have the charge dropped (in this situation, or a similar one such as experied Ontario plates)? This was brought up in another thread recently, and as I've heard arguments going bothways, I'd be curious to hear your opinions.

The two 8 digit numbers would be the ticket numbers for the respective tickets. No sure what the "&amp" means, typo maybe? Never seen a typed MVC report before.

I've wondered about this as well, so I looked it up:

Another common error occurs when including a URL which contains an ampersand ("&"):

Re: Internet has it's Dis-Advantages

Your last statement about the bad habits from other countries is so true, as I have seen their maneuvering in traffic and have often thought just where did they get there license??

Whether it's a tractor-trailer or a taxi they seem to think it's OK to continue with their bad habits - until they end up driving in weather they're not familiar with ...
