So I am driving along the highway on my way to a job Interview, being very careful about speeding since I have 2 older tickets for that, I see an undercover car and think nothing of it since I am doing nothing wrong...right? WRONG!
Turns out I forgot to renew my damn sticker back in August! I could not believe it when he told me this, I was sure ...

Re: NEED HELP - Stunt charge - Some initial questions please
Not saying I disagree about the vehicle impoundment, but the initial 7 day suspension should NOT impact your insurance rates.
The FSCO oversees insurance in Ontario and they state the following:
An administrative lapse or a suspension of a drivers licence is a documented drivers licence lapse for administrative or medical reasons that are not ...

Re: 180 in a 100 zone - charged with racing a motor vehicle
The first thing you need to do is do what you need to and get the disclosure, and a copy of officers written notes, etc. Go to Ticket Combat and follow the steps, there is even a form you can download and fill out to help you get what you need.
Only then will you know how to proceed from there, and whether you have any leg to stand on at all. From ...

Re: NEED HELP - Stunt charge - Some initial questions please
I'm just going to update this thread since someone sent me a message about it. I went to the Crown, on my own, and by what the Crown said to me that was a good choice. They offered me a deal without me really saying anything, and it was pretty decent considering what the damn officer had charged me with (3 charges in total, 2 major). I tried to let ...

Re: License Plate cover - OPP / Police in General
I've never seen licence plate covers for sale at Service Ontario, I have seen signs saying that they don't endorse any licence plate covers. Which ones are selling them?
Brampton on McLaughlin close to Steeles and in Square One Mississauga. They are advertised right on a bulletin board for everyone to see, they are clear covers, "protect your ...

Re: License Plate cover - OPP / Police in General
What I can't figure out, is how obstructing the plate in just about any way possible is illegal (look closely at HTA, it goes overboard), yet the $((@ ing Ministry sells you plate covers!!!????
Someone please enlighten us on how/why this is going on
This might even help the OP

Little advice wanted on how to "approach" the Crown for deal
So I've read somewhere that "threatening" them would be pretty foolish, makes sense to me. Probably Ticket Combat, great site that.
Here's the thing. I got Disclosure, and found some holes that I am quite sure I can raise reasonable doubt with. Will it be enough? That is another story, and pretty hard to answer, so not asking that here, at least ...

Re: Stunt Suspension affecting insurance if you get off?
Thanks again. You read my mind about this and was thinking about the clarification after my last post.
The Bulletin is almost misleading in what it says.
First it says " where the lapse or suspension is not connected to driving offence convictions ". Well at first glance this would seem to point to yes, a suspension for Stunt Driving IS ...

Re: This is gonna leave a mark.....
AND THAT explains the insurance quote I just got for such a car, which was more than even an Infiniti, convertible Eclipse, etc etc.
Even the older Supercharged ones were nothing to spit at, no 260 but still decent.
Apparently your theory is correct, and Insurance companies have acted on it.

Re: Stunt Suspension affecting insurance if you get off?
Awesome thanks Stanton.
I'll bet companies, some knowingly, some probably not, are charging you for these Suspensions (certainty shows up in quotes I just did) even though they are not supposed to according to that Bulletin hoping the average person doesn't know better, which likely they don't

Stunt Suspension affecting insurance if you get off?
I know I seen this somewhere in the forum but can't find it. I'd like to clarify two things:
1. 7 day Suspension happens (sadly you are assumed guilty) and you get the charges dropped or stayed, I understand suspension stays on record and no way to remove it? (obviously not fair)
2. In the above case, Insurance companies still ask you if your ...

Re: NEED HELP - Stunt charge - Some initial questions please
Well there were also other allegations in Officers notes (not racing, but things that fall under the definition of racing and not stunt) such as
i. driving a motor vehicle at a rate of speed that is a marked departure from the lawful rate of speed
which falls squarely under the "Racing" definition and is not mentioned in the Stunt definition ...

Re: NEED HELP - Stunt charge - Some initial questions please
Thanks for the quick response Bear, not sure how clear I was in my question.
The main thing I am trying to determine is if Racing and Stunt are considered essentially to be the same thing for the purpose of being charged/accused under the law, since they have very different definitions.
If I am being specifically accused of Stunt Driving, it ...

Re: NEED HELP - Stunt charge - Some initial questions please
While preparing some of the 'finer points' here for the Crown and possibly for a trial, I came upon another question while looking up past cases on Canlii but have not found a definitive answer yet.

Yeah I didn't even touch on the 'middle lane' bandits
He was travelling faster than those in the slow lane it seems so for me the puzzling thing is why did he have his hazard lights on at all? Seemed unnecessary (and sadly I see people like him occasionally too) and if he was truly worried, he should have been in the right lane obviously ...
