Re: Halton Police's "Radar Taxi"

You differentiate between routine patrol and traffic enforcement. I'm not an officer, obviously, so I assume you mean routine patrol versus blitzes and going out onto the roads specifically to catch people in the act.
By routine, I mean patrolling town, cities neighbourhoods. By traffic enforcement, I mean officers dedicated solely to traffic ...

HTA sec 1 definition of roadway...does NOT include the shoulder

Here is the regulation to look at....plus it adds in areas affected.

Re: Halton Police's "Radar Taxi"

I think having as much police presence on the road as we can afford is a good thing. However, marking a cruiser to look like a cab is underhanded and done only to generate revenue for the region it's in. .

For general patrol vehicles, I completely agree.

For traffic enforcement I disagree. I would like to see a majority of units doing traffic ...

Passenger - seatbelt ticket

copied to more appropriate thread....

Recently I got a ticket for not wearing a seat belt at passenger's seat. I was told that I would get 2 points for it but I checked your website and it said there that there are no points for such offence. Please clarify which is correct.

if you received 3 different summons with the same offence, I would say 3 charges, one for each suspension

Re: Legal requirement to report accident to Insurer?

If there is a collision report completed, it will eventually get to the MTO and added onto the drivers licence.

When insurance checks the licence, they will see the collision.

Would not want to say no collisions if asked, as that might be a reason to cancel your insurance for a false statement.

Re: Going straight green light (Hwy 410 + Williams Pkwy) Brampto

. Officer told me that there is a sign that you cannot go straight and I am sure he was referring the word "only".

The arrow signs by themselves require the driver to turn "only" in a particular direction.

The word "only" added underneath the 2 arrows is probably put up to remind drivers, but is not a required sign or legislated sign that I ...
