Re: Flashing blue light question

Flashing blue is ONLY to be used by police or a snow plow that is under contract by the province or municipality.

Now there is nothing saying that a private snowplow can not have blue while in a parking lot....but forget and push snow across a road, back onto a road, or just drive down the street while the light is operational and it is an offence ...

Dealer plate = white with red letters
Service plate = yellow with black letters

All plates/permits fall under OREG 628

Re: service plate trouble

I really dont understand this rule where service plate cant be used for private use, there is insurance payed every year on it , its just isnt right , all the people i know use it for private use , thats how it should be , i dont really see what cops can do to you.

A service plate is just that....to obtain service on a vehicle. So a business ...

Re: Service Plate Holder?

A Service Plate can be used on any vehicle within the class specified in the regulations and not just the plate/permit holder's inventory..

Still must be owned by the person who owns the service plate.....

HTA OREG 628
13.1 (2) A Service number plate may be used on a trailer or motor vehicle other than a motorcycle or motor assisted bicycle ...

What about people with expired G2's?

The person remains a G2 and....

Any driver who holds a licence that expired on or after August 24, 2009 will continue to be covered under the automatic licence extension put in place by the MTO until July 1st, 2010.

Re: How important is the location of the offence

If the offense (failure to wear seatbelt) occurred 1km away from where the ticket says it did. Is that relevant ?

The officer observed me without my seatbelt at an intersection, I then put it on and he followed me to my house (1km away) and wrote the ticket with the offense occurring on my street.

Re: court date for a speed trap?

Is it reasonable to assume that the scheduled trial date from a particular speed trap would all be on the same date?
Last weekend I got stopped (20 Kph over) at a speed trap. There was another car pulled over before I even left. I would imagine that they would try and scedule all of the court dates resulting from those tickets on the same day. Is ...

Re: My ticket: Contrary to THE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC ACT 32(1)

MTO is not on strike.

The company that does the "testing" is on strike.

Therefore if it is a regular renewal for licences or plates it is business as usual.

IF it is an expired licence waiting for testing, this time period has been extended to 01JUL10.

Re: OPP Ticketed Wrong Car

How far down the road, from the point where the officer checked speeds, did the stop take place? Anything more then 2 KM would suggest there was other traffic at the time.

that has absolutely NOTHING to do with it. I routinely take farther, sometimes it has been 5-10k before I stop a car.....why? not for volume of traffic, but my dispatch is ...

Re: Pacing

since some are probably wondering how we check the speedometer at least my office....we have a radar in every car......part of testing requirement for radar is to compare to your speedometer. Testing is twice a day minimum.

If it is a car without radar, we would drive at a set speed (u/k speed to radar/lidar operator) and have them tell us what we ...
