Re: Notice of Trial was stamped 5 weeks before trial.

You're over thinking. Just request disclosure as soon as possible and go from there. There's no set amount of time that you are afforded to go over your disclosure. All charges are different and disclosure packages vary. They could have it ready tomorrow or they could have it ready on your trial date. Most likely (being 5 weeks away with the ...

Re: Does this count as "Fail to remain"? What are my options

What are my options at this point?

Make a report. Also, give the plate number of the vehicle that you suspected may have caused the accident. An officer will usually look up where the plate is registered and show up at the door. He'll ask if they caused the accident. If you're lucky, they'll cave and just admit to it.

Also, does this count as ...

I don't really like making personal opinions in threads, but at what point is your situation not going to be about "unlucky me".

You've been a member here for little over a year and post every other month with new charges or ridiculous behavior.

Re: Speeding ticket in Quebec

Agreed. There is a reciprocal agreement in place. In this agreement is a list of offenses that have an equivalent offense in Ontario. Not all offenses have an equivalent, so not every conviction will transfer over. Your particular charge does. What that means is it will appear on your driving abstract once convicted. From there, the Ministry just ...

Re: Failure to stop

My plan during trial is to attempt to discredit the officer. There are no errors with the ticket or anything like that so I think discrediting the officers memory is my best angle. I will ask questions about what I was wearing, what the weather was like and how many passengers were in the vehicle at the time. I also want to use the officers answer ...

Re: When to request disclosure

Since not receiving disclosure in advance of the trial is beneficial, should I be waiting until the last minute to fax in the request?

There's nothing beneficial about not receiving disclosure before your trial date. You want your disclosure as quick as possible. By doing the bare minimum, you're only opening yourself up to criticism. They are ...

Re: Failure to stop at red light at T-intersection

While a reduction in the charge may be possible, keep in mind it's not going to do much in the way of insurance. Any type of disobeying of a traffic light or sign is treated the same (unless it involves a school bus or school crossing guard).

That being said, if a reduction would satisfy your needs, go for it. Simply show up and they'll present ...

Good Luck even keeping your current insurance agent or carrier AND whatever your job is, it's entirely up to your employer not the courts or the insurance company but if you think they )insurance company) wont find out you and the previous poster would be mistaken! No one cares that you've learned from it, if you drink make other plans for a ride ...

Re: Got a ticket for an expired sticker in Gatineau??

I went to Le Nordik spa last week, My car was parked on Le Nordik property (private). My plate was expired by a few days .

The same thing could happen here. Depending on the bylaws in the city or town you decide to park in, you can still be charged with expired stickers whether you're driving down the street or parked in your own driveway. So ...

Re: Handicapped zone parking $300 - badly marked?

- I can plead the above, suggesting insufficient marking - particularly as the meter was obscured and lack of road and sidewalk markings

You should probably look up the bylaws from the city you were charged in. They'll outline the way a handicap spot should be labelled. Some places make no mention of any road markings, others do. Arguing the ...

Don't quote me on this, but aren't you supposed to report an accident to the insurance company within 24 hrs or they have the right to revoke your policy, or something like that?

Not exactly 24 hours. I believe it's 7 days unless there's some circumstance that would prevent you from doing so in that timeline (eg. The accident left you in the ...

Depending where you live, the city can come and hand out tickets for either the 3+ hours of parking, expired sticker, or both.

If you wish to contact them, many usually have a parking enforcement number listed online.

If I was not listed on her insurance, would her insurance still go up? I know when you lend a car, if someone gets in an accident it would affect your insurance, but does lending to someone who speeds do the same thing?

No, her insurance would remain the same. In the case of an accident, there would likely be a claim. Technically, you're ...

No, the officer isn't expected to know the color, make, or model of your phone.

Not only that, but you admitted to the officer that you were talking on your phone.
