OK. Well you are obviously going ahead with this so keep us posted.
I don't think you have demonstrated any intentional deceit or misconduct on the part of the officer - at best perhaps providing some information that was incorrect about a different agency and that, regardless, you got cleared up right away.
As for the charge, he drove a car ...

It isn't mandatory in law but some Services might have policies concerning such matters.

Re: Reducing fine: Police stop car for no reason or made-up
I acknowledge your desire to help but I would suggest his best option is to ask for a reduced fine based on ability to pay. ? think we can agree too that when an officer doesn't know the answer, that he or she shouldn't pretend to know the answer. What the officer said placed pressure on my relative to plead guilty and pay immediately so that he ...

Re: Speeding Ticket (possible fatal error)
I suspect the officer noticed the error and shredded the ticket, moving on to other things. None of us like getting quashed tickets back.

Re: Reducing fine: Police stop car for no reason or made-up
I'm afraid you're clutching at straws. You say that the officer clearly indicated that he knew the licence was expired at the time of the stop. That's his reason to pull the vehicle over. He would likely have been running random plates and got a hit which precipitated the stop but he then wanted to do a doublecheck or perhaps run the licence ...

It is simply not possible to register that reading 5 hours after a single glass of wine, whatever the quality. You've come to a forum with some extremely experienced police officers who've been dealing with alcohol related investigations for decades. People downplay the amount they drank all the time.

If you think it's ok to do it for a hockey game then I'm assuming you think it's ok for all other sorts of occasions. What about a wedding, a high school ball game, a trip to a party......?
It's either dangerous or it's not.

Re: Getting a professional opinion
I have to disagree with karra regarding the following too close being as bad as a careless. I'm with cooperators and they showed me the chart that lists major and minor tickets and any minor has the same impact on insurance as any other minor and the same for majors. Careless is a major, follow too close is a minor. While follow too close doesn't ...

Well yes, he is a moron but you might get lucky. He won't be listed on your insurance as a G1 driver but when he gets his G2 and is listed the premium might takes jump.

You will be prohibited from driving for a year on conviction and you are going to have a very hard time finding insurance at even the most obscene rates when you do finally get to the point when you drive again

I wouldn't think so. The matter was dealt with in a timely fashion by way of a conviction being entered.
