Um, if you were charged with "Plates not authorized for the vehicle" that is an arrestable offence... and you could go to jail.
Not really sure you'd rather take the "rest of the charges" instead of the No Insurance one.
In any case, I'd seek some sort of legal advice for this.
wouldn't they think I can afford to pay all my tickets too?

Definitely seek legal representation. Trying to take this one on alone is NOT a good idea.

Re: Centre turn lane as a passing lane
Come to think of it... In an ideal world, unless the other side of the intersection was blocked, the driver who stopped to let you turn should have been charged as well. (Granted, not much they could've charged him with, but still...) The reason being, there was no legal reason for him to stop, and the driver behind him probably thought that he was ...

Unfortunately the airplane tickets are very hard to fight. There have been some success cases but they are few and far between.

Re: a ticket that makes no sense
Odds are, for such a minor collision like this, careless driving will get thrown out or withdrawn for lack of evidence. I'd recommend hiring a paralegal or traffic lawyer, though. The consequences of a conviction can be quite severe. The lady in the other car will have to show up in court for them to get a conviction. I'm willing to bet that her ...

Short answer: Yes. Alberta probably has some kind of power given to their judges in their equivalent of the Provincial Offences Act that allows them to do so.

You can ask the JP to compel the Prosecutor to disclose the remainder of relevant evidence. You'll have to explain why you need each item, and cite case law to do so. State that you are unable to provide full answer and defence to the charge if you do not receive proper disclosure. However... you did receive the notes. The manual should be ...

Re: Question about rules of the road I can't find in the OHT
1. You can change lanes in an intersection. You just can't do it if you're turning in the intersection. Otherwise, you're good to go. It's not recommended but it is not illegal.
2. In Ontario, yellow lines are guidelines only. You can pass on a double-yellow line if the maneouvre is done in safety and you don't violate any provision of s. 149.

Re: 55 km/h over in another province
Depends on what administrative fees Alberta has for taking tickets like that to court. In some cases, if you lose, they can levy higher fines (e.g. Quebec), but I don't know what the situation is in Alberta.
FYI, there's reciprocity between the two provinces so if you fail to pay the ticket in Alberta, MTO is supposed to suspend your licence for ...

Service Canada does not handle driver licences. Start by calling MTO and see where you can go to pay the reinstatement fee (might be DriveTest but I don't know for sure).

Re: Centre turn lane as a passing lane
If there were turn arrows in the oncoming centre lane, then the oncoming driver who you collided with would be guilty of disobeying the lane markings, or possibly careless driving. However, they could also say that you made an unsafe left turn. Have you been charged with anything?

Re: Speeding 20 over reduced to 10 over
The risk in fighting a reduced speeding ticket is that the Prosecutor can have the speed amended back to the original (20 over). HOWEVER, if he had not passed the 60 km/h sign and was still in a 70 zone and was doing 80... then the ticket wasn't reduced but reflected the original speed. Th ekey thing is where the speeding offence was noted. It is ...

You'll probably get the manual and the notes. The SOP might be made available, can't say for sure. If the OPP procedures differ from the manufacturer's manual then they should be made available to you (R. v. Lorna Bourget case from the Northwest Territories).

Re: Speeding safely, apprehended dangerously!
Originally the s. 172 law was supposed to be confined to what it was supposed to be for: Street racing. However, then-OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino was quite vocal about how "excessive speed" needed to be considered racing, and Premier Dad threw it in there as well. I agree that stunt driving/racing should be reserved for people who genuinely are ...

Paytickets is not the official document and the absence of the offence date on its website is not grounds to get it dismissed. If the date was absent on the ticket itself, that's an entirely different situation.

The "Stop Here On Red Signal" takes the place of a stop line (or reminds people "STOP HERE"). It does not prohibit a right turn on red.

Just to let you know: They cannot "waive" points. Demerit points are administrative and are applied by MTO based on the conviction you get in court. You'd have to plead guilty to an offence that either does not have demerit points associated with it, or be found not guilty.

You have to explain why you filed the application, the circumstances of the case, and why you believe that the charge should be stayed, citing case law. You need to lay your case out for the JP. 12 months and 26 days should be enough but you need to explain to the JP why this is true for your case.

Keep the video tape evidence. For now, just pick option 3 and file a notice of intent to appear (go to the courthouse). When you get a court date, file for disclosure of the officer's notes. From there, you'll be able to put a case together. If you can truthfully testify that you were facing an amber arrow accompanied by a green light, then you ...

You'd have to show that your girlfriend was driving with due care and attention. Did you happen to get the tow truck driver's contact information? Even if the police did not talk to him... he could be a witness for you (depending on what he has to say).
