This is a ticket that I would love to see handed out a lot more often.
I second that notion... I too hate it when people are following too close and I wonder what is going on their head?
When it is rush hour traffic and you are simply following the flow of traffic, by some one riding your rear bumper, it's not like you are/can go any faster, so ...

Re: Improper Mudguards?
This is not a speeding ticket. With speeding, you are speeding or you're not. This is a ticket where the offense is largely based off the opinions of an officer. If you give them the chance to look over this ticket, take into account the vehicle involved, they may decide there isn't enough to proceed with the charge. Rather than dealing with this ...

New regulation in the news
So just heard on the news that a new regulation is being implemented, soon police officers stopping people will need to advise them they do not have to talk to them. Odd if you ask me, because it makes the entire process moot since right there that individual can turn around and say "OK, then I'm walking, ciao".
But that is not what got me ...

Re: Missing Sign Posted (Northbound) yet showing Southbound.
Your quote:
"All speeding charges are posted because at the start of that portion of the road there will have been a sign."
There is no such sign at the start of that portion. This is what I'm saying (no signs on the entire road northbound at the rate of speed on the ticket).
Along with all this the area was completely rural rather difficult ...

Re: Moving School Bus with Flashing Lights
Are you worried about this or were you charged?
Usually school bus drivers hunk their horn to get the attention of the other drivers if they see some one not stopping when they should.

Re: Missing Sign Posted (Northbound) yet showing Southbound.
In a nutshell, the maximum speed limit is 50 km/h unless posted otherwise.
So you can not use the argument of no sign was posted if he charged you with speeding in a 50 zone, if he charged you with speeding in a 40 zone, that is a different discussion.
You have not mentioned what rate you were charged with in what zone, so it is a little ambiguous ...

Re: Improper Mudguards?
Based on what I have seen and read from other people, early resolution is a waste of time. The reason I say this is because at the early resolution meeting you are expected to take a plea deal, which is basically pleading guilty to a lesser charge, which in turn affects your insurance no matter how you slice or dice it.

Re: Validation improperly affixed
There was never any actual law or regulation providing a grace period , it was something officers would simply do (and still do). Unfortunately it's a bit more complicated now due to e-ticketing. It's a very good system in that it simplifies the ticket submission process and speeds up disclosure, but tickets are now automatically filed to the ...

Re: Stop signs at plaza exits
You may also have to check where the stop sign is actually posted. If it's at an exit, it may be posted close enough to the highway to be on municipal property and therefore legal.
That's actually what I was thinking, because I realized, the few feet of the edge of the property is actually owned by the city (easement for utility maintenance), I ...

Stop signs at plaza exits
I have a question regarding stop signs you see at the entrance/exit of some plazas.
Years ago, when I started to drive I was told these were stop signs on private property and HTA did not apply to them, therefor police would not issue an infraction notice if one would not obey them.
Now, I'm wondering of that is true, especially with everything I ...

Re: Validation improperly affixed
Quite often that charge is laid because the driver talked himself into it, or, the driver was getting a break on something else so the cop laid that charge which is no points. If the validation sticker is missing, it would still come up as valid when the cop ran the plate during the stop. If the plates came up as being valid, but the sticker was ...

"They tend to take plea deals and go back to the client saying this is the best they could do and make several hundred dollars for doing nothing at all."?
As I said it in my post, I have seen it with my own eyes...
Now, let's be clear, not all of them do this, so the question is how to find the ones that actually work hard for you...
