I don't blame the JP for not believing you. You're clearly doing your best to minimize any responsibility you have in this matter. If it is that transparent in a text post on the internet, no wonder they saw right through you.

Did you mean you got the ticket in October 2015 or October 2016? That makes a bit of a difference for you.

Based on what you've written, I gather you haven't received disclosure yet.
Get that and review it before you make assumptions like the one's you've made. I suspect, although I've been wrong before, that once you receive disclosure most of your "concerns" will not be as helpful to you as you think.

The officer will also have the curb weight from the MTO registration. I did a quick search and it appears the curb weight is over 3000kg which is likely the basis of the ticket.

Just so we can all understand the situation better can you fill in some of the blanks here?
-What was the offence date and what was the charge? Are we talking HTA or other provincial offences?
-Was your only court date in August of last year or have there been others? Please list all court dates and what happened on them.
The reason I am asking ...

Re: 11b Questions
When considering an 11b application the justice will determine how much of the delay is due to the actions of the crown and the defendant. If you request this adjournment, the delay caused by it would not be counted toward the total delay for the purposes of the 11b application.

Personal opinion, but I think that video shows careless driving and if I were you I wouldn't bring it anywhere near the courtroom.

Just a quick note, I have HEARD, but not actually SEEN that certain jurisdictions will plead this down to a lesser charge. No idea if your jurisdiction is one of those that may be willing to make a deal.

Sounds like he was charged with Impaired Operation and Operation over 80. Wouldn't be surprised if they also tacked on Dangerous Operation, all three of which are criminal charges.
These cases are highly complex. He'll want to get a lawyer to represent him.

Before i got the disclosure, i wanted to fight the ticket by arguing that 1) the speed recorded with the LIDAR was not my speed as there was other cars around me at the time,
Just a quick note, this defence won't likely fly as LIDAR has a very narrow beam. This is in contrast to RADAR where the beam is very wide and it can be difficult to tell ...

With regard to "applying pressure" to the court, never forget that your tickets are a few out of thousands, and nobody at the court or the police agency is going to be stressed out about your trial.
Just go by the book. Any shenanigans you pull can only serve to hurt you down the road.

Start by pleading not guilty and requesting disclosure. Once you have that come back and post it here
With that information the users of this board can assist you with assessing the merits of the case and what your best options may be.

Once you have disclosure you have a better idea of what you're looking at. Side note, if the device was on a stand or tripod it was most likely a laser.

The details of the set up etc. Are probably written once then referred to for each ticket issued during that particular enforcement initiative.

Did you provide your ID to the bus driver? If not, Any ticket you receive would be as the owner of the vehicle and would not have demerit points.

Re: Parking ticket not properly served?
I doubt this argument will work. The way you were served is not explicitly permitted in the regulation, it is permitted to be sent by regular mail, which is ultimately not a heck of a lot different from how you received it. It might be a defense if you never received it, but you clearly did and they will know that based on the fact that you applied ...

Once you have your suspension sorted out you will also have to visit service Ontario to pay a reinstatement fee.
