at trial for speeding Plead guilty to different charge 182(2) but ordered to pay more then set fine.
Just looking for info and possible options. so originally in Feb 2021 I was ticketed for speeding 49 over in a 90 (set fine of 294 total payable 359). I sent in my trial request but and kept checking the status and when the date would be. In May 2021 I was convicted by default so I protested it and was able to reopen it and a trial was set for Nov ...

As the subject says the police are cherry picking coming down on a highway from Maryhill to Bloomingdale the speed limit is 80 and this is rural.

Insurance companies do not use suspensions for unpaid fines against you.
That is completely incorrect.

Short answer: no. They will be on your record for 2 years.
However, you shouldn't worry about the points unless you have so many, you're risking a license suspension. The insurance companies don't look at points.
Not completely true... Demerits don't hold much but it's the nature of the ticket usually plays a roll....But some companies do ...

It's my understanding that they can't change the charge. you're there to fight the speeding they can't just change it to something else to suit their needs. (I believe this falls under double jeparody) This can only be done if the circumstances changed... IE.. you got charged with aggravated assault first.. then the victim dies so it's upped to ...

Is this a HTA matter or Criminal court matter?
Either way the law protects you... if you feel after testifying that your in danger call the police. after you leave court and the accused does anything its now under the Criminal code of Canada. Just as if you are summoned to appear in court your obligated to appear..
