Car Buying Advise

Unread post by bobajob »

Hi guy's

Can anyone set me right on what fees I pay when buying a car.

Here's the scenario, I'm looking at cars (pre-certified used) from a main dealer.

Over the price of the car and the taxes (I take it is 13%) what other fees can they legally charge me for

so, registration, licence plate, does the dealer do all the paperwork?

Also my old car, what happens to my existing registration plate / licence sticker, can I return it for a refund, cancel or just don't renew it?

I did do some googling, I thought I saw that ontario laws say that all prices must be "inclusive" other than the tax?

cheers again fellas

Unless you transfer your old plates over to the new car, return them to the MTO. You will receive a refund or credit for every full month left on your validation. The MTO will also record the fact that the plates were returned which prevents future liability should someone "borrow" them.
