Question About Turning Left On A Red Light

by: blackout on

I made a left turn on Kennedy and Steeles on a red light. There was a car in front of me who also made the turn on the red light, and i was a little over if not on the line when i made the turn on the red. Both myself and the car in front of me made the turn right after the light turned red .There MAY have been a flash, and i'm not sure whether i will be ticketed.

If you were on the line or behind it (or maybe even slightly over it but not much), that would've tripped the red light camera if you made the turn after the light turned red.

If you were at a full stop before you made your left turn, you're probably in the clear. I believe the speed of a vehicle crossing the stop line has to be somewhere between 20-30 km/hr for the camera to activate. This prevents the camera from activating every time someone makes a right hand turn after stopping on a red. So it can only really catch red light runners, not motorists who proceed through before it's green.
