Not Gonna Pay Parking Ticket. Now What?

Unread post by reveller »

Parked one of Mom's cars on the street Jan 5 for couple days. Plates "just" expired (car 4 sale). Got $50 ticket for "park as to interfere with snow removal" bylaw in Thorold. They plow the street maybe twice a year. Overnight parking IS allowed. Dead battery, couldn't get new one till next day. Bam! another $50 ticket. I signed the tickets but Mom (74 and handicapped) got mailed the Sept 3 court date notice? The car is sold and those plates will not be renewed. If not paid, can she still get sticker for the other car's plate? Should she get new sticker now before the court date? Or make a deal to pay 1 tickect or nothing?

If the ticket is not paid, ANY plate on a vehicle that she owns will not be renewable. It is not specific to the plate. It is specific to the plate's owner.

I'd either make a deal to pay one of the tickets in exchange for dropping the other, or try to fight them... particularly if there was no snow to be removed from that street...
