Rebuilt Tires Sect 71
71. (1) In this section,
"rebuild" means to make or impose a new tread or new surface or to otherwise alter the surface of a used tire so that it will resemble a new tire, by cutting into or adding rubber to the surface thereof, or by a combination of both. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 71 (1).
Rebuilt tires, to be marked
(2) No person shall rebuild any tire designed for use upon a motor vehicle unless the person causes it to be indicated in letters of not less than six millimetres in height, clearly embossed upon or imposed or cut into the outside surface of each wall of the tire, that it has been rebuilt. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 71 (2).

(3) No person shall sell, offer or expose for sale, or have in the persons possession with intent to sell, any tire designed for use upon a motor vehicle that has been rebuilt unless it is indicated in letters of not less than six millimetres in height, clearly embossed upon or imposed or cut into the outside surface of each wall of the tire, that it has been rebuilt. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 71 (3).
Penalty
(4) Every person who contravenes subsection (2) or (3) is guilty of an offence and on conviction is liable to a fine of not less than $200 and not more than $20,000. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 71 (4); 1996, c. 20, s. 17.
