Re: Zero Tolerance for 1st 5 years of driving...

Would rather see re-testing & higher standards put in place than anything else. Some people get really good at driving; others learn, barely pass their driving test, then continue to get worse, bumping and crashing into things constantly without realizing that they are inspirations for public transit, so they continue to drive. (Like Michael from ...

Re: Allen road and Eglinton Ave. - No right turn on Red Light???

The general request is "give me disclosure". But then it's up to the Crown to decide what to give you. It should be all the elements that they are required to prove in order to convict you.

The specific request is anything they have that will be useful to you to prepare your defence. This list is (theorectically) endless. And if they don't give ...

Re: Turn right on red against green arrow indication

You can't hijack your hijack. That's like double dipping.

So let's start from the top again. I got some sleep since my last blurry eyed post. There are two types of indications, a circular indication and an arrow indication. And they can be red, amber or green.

s(18] Every driver approaching a traffic control signal showing a circular red ...

Re: Turn right on red against green arrow indication

Ignore the post you quoted. I edited it about 45 times and submitted new versions about 10 times.

Here's the "final" one so far:

Now back to the green arrow tangent. I'm going to take one more stab at it. And yes it's making my brain hurt!

First the Act makes a distinction between a green indication and a green arrow indication. An indication ...

Re: Allen road and Eglinton Ave. - No right turn on Red Light???

I totally absolutely conceded. Then I started to look at what I wrote and the ACT and then I edited my post for the last 1.5 hours as I worked through this. I went from disagreeing with you and Bear, to conceding, to fighting you and Bear again, to blowing my brains out with a totally different interpretation. This last one has got me reeling. I ...

Re: Allen road and Eglinton Ave. - No right turn on Red Light???

Zyrynx thanks for the positive feedback on my site. I really appreciate it! As long as there is definitely no sign prohibiting a right turn, you are home free with this charge. It's a drag to have to go through this process but look at it this way, it makes you stronger and more knowledgeable should there ever be a next time.

Since your new here ...

Excellent post RI! Man, looking at your graphic gets me tired!

A couple of things to add, you can take the ticket to any POA office in Ontario. They'll photocopy your ticket and then stamp it and give it back to you. If possible, can you post a photo of your ticket here (blanking out the personal details)? I'm interested in the fine amount box at ...

Re: Bikes and SUV's?

Bicycle cops are very common in Toronto. Less common, I don't know if they have them anymore, was rollerblade cops. All a fleeing suspect had to do was find some stairs.

Pearson Airport (Peel Regional Police) has segway cops.

My personal favourite is the mounted units but those guys NEVER scoop up afterwards!!!

This just reminded me of a video from youtube

I've got to comment on that video. If I understand it correctly this self-righteous "driver" decides it would be a good idea to make a documentary WHILE DRIVING??? At one point he quickly moves his camera from the side mirror to check the ...

I was in a tow truck that had 11 radios: police, ambulance, transit, taxi, CB, I don't remember the rest. He had five on the dash and the rest in the arm rest compartment. Plus all the tow drivers were hooked up on Mike (Telus). But I bet you his wife could never reach him 8)

Re: Allen road and Eglinton Ave. - No right turn on Red Light???

I've never used it, do not have traffic lights......I remember it as an OPC trick question some 12yrs ago. Section 18 is stop at a red light. S. 19 says despite s.18 you can still proceed to turn right (or left on one-ways) subject to yielding right of way, proceeding with caution, yada yada yada.

S. 14 says you don't have to stop if you are ...
