Re: Would you want your own BLOG on OHTA.ca?
I think it is a good idea, but I think that there is no real need to have the cutoff point at this time. I can see where you are coming from (want more-or-less regular posters), but I think one or two junior members would love blog, as their posts are similar to blog comments. Also, how would the blog page link look like? Something like www.ohta.ca ...

Re: 2 tickets - worth negotiating?
A friend of mine had the same "no insurance" ticket. The cop told him to show up at the police station within 72 hours to have the ticket repealed.Bookm wrote:I don't think the cops can repeal the ticket. Could be wrong though. I thought the Crown handles that.

If the charge is for the Ontario Highway Traffic Act infraction, then you may send a paralegal without even setting your foot in court.

Re: 2 tickets - worth negotiating?
To drop the no insurance ticket you have to go to the police station. Then discuss/fight your improper U-turn ticket with the prosecutor. Not having the proof of insurance is not the same as no insurance, and it is a standard practice for cops to repeal the ticket once you present them the proof of your insurance.

Re: Careless driving involving pedestrian
I think that here is an intersection with stop signs at North and South, and a pedestrian button-operated light to stop the traffic and cross the heavier traffic East-West street. The wheelchair pedestrian pushed the button, and whoever was driving on EW street, not used to seeing a red there, was confused and hesitated before stopping. This is not ...

Remember those annoying Sylvania light bulbs commercials?
Do you people remember the annoying Sylvania light bulbs commercials, where the guy says "Now you see me, now you don't". Makes me want to replace with "Now you blind me, now you don't". Heck, I've seen some people whose regular lights are brighter than their far lights. Mostly on pickups, too, right where the height of the lamps is perfect for ...

Perhaps the graduated system is at fault here? Re: Our unsafe winter roads...
Slippery conditions are in effect and are expected to continue for a few days on HWY 401 east of Kingston, as well as HWY 416. Rural country roads in Kingston-Ottawa area are also in slippery conditions due to freezing rain. May get worse overnight. Drivers are advised to keep their speed well below the posted speed limit.

Our unsafe winter roads...
Please help everyone by warning them of unsafe road conditions in your area due to snow pileups and ice build-ups. Try to update as the conditions improve/city services do a better job.

OPP cruiser rear-ended, minor injuries sustained by 2 LEOs.
Got this from Guelph Mercury. Responding to a crash on intersection of Wellington Road 7 and Wellington Road 51, about 10 minutes drive from Guelph's north end, an OPP cruiser was rear-ended. Both officers sustained minor injuries, and the cruiser $5000 in damages. 43 year old man charged with "Careless Driving".

Texting while driving enough for a Careless?
Just read this on Yahoo news. A woman from London, ON was caught texting on her cellphone while driving, and was consequently charged with Careless Driving. Do you think it is a fair charge?
