You had better start calling around to several lawyers to find one that has a winning track record of beating the no insurance charge as that is very serious (and a hard to beat)!
If you were issued a SUMMONS (it says Summons at the top of the ticket), this is not your trial date so you can go yourself to this one and do not necessarilt need to ...

I like to use fax method for everything because it is fast and cheap.
I just print out the "fax sent ok" report as proof I sent it.
If you dont have real fax then google "send free fax" there are several sites that will let you scan your letter and then upload it to them and they will fax it for you.

Re: 79 in a 50, question about officer's notes
Most police have some kind of "computer" in their car. If they are issuing an electronic ticket then my understanding is that there would be some kind of printer attached to this computer in their vehicle. I do not know anything more really than that.
With regards to notes, the courts have allowed electronic signatures on electronic tickets and ...

Re: 79 in a 50, question about officer's notes
When you request disclosure make sure you ask for:
-Notes of all officers involved.
-Make, model and serial number of speed measuring device used.
-A copy of the entire manual for this speed measuring device. I require the full manual in order to properly prepare and cross-examine the officer on their knowledge, understanding, training and use of ...

Just make sure you say something like this to the JP :
"Since the prosecutor only got the disclosure ready 2 days ago, I would like an adjournment as I need time to review it and prepare my defense. And I would like this time to count against the prosecution as I have been requesting it since [SOME DATE] and they should have had more than enough ...

Re: Never talk to the police & Know your rights
I choose to try and educate people on what their rights are, including what is also required of them. This is what I said in my very first post:
So I have been doing some research about my rights and realized that I do NOT ever have to talk to the police and I NEVER have to answer any of their questions.
I may be compelled/required by statute to ...

Also remember that if you go to trial both the officer and the bus driver MUST be present in order to testify. If one is not there then they have to drop the charge.

Re: Disobey Officer Traffic on RIDE
It really depends how busy the court is. In small town you might only get is pushed out a couple months. In Toronto you might get it pushed out 2 years. No way to know.
If they retroactive it, they will know that you had 2 other tickets at the time even though they are no longer there so they could raise your rates reflective of if you had 3 ...

Re: Summons for an "owner" violation with set fine
The date on the summons is not your trial date (but you do have to show up). You will be asked how you plan to plead and if you plead not guilty then they will set a trial date.
I can not answer the questions about summons or the set fine amount.

Re: Summons for an "owner" violation with set fine
Well my understanding is that when a charge is issued to the OWNER of a vehicle and not the DRIVER that it does not cause your insurance to go up. Maybe somebody else in forum can confirm that.
But regardless, I would plead Not Guilty and request a trial with the officer present. Once you get your notice of trial, you can then request disclosure ...

Re: Disobey Officer Traffic on RIDE
Well in theory they won't find out about the charge until/unless you are convicted so it would be beneficial to try and drag out the ER process a little and drag out the court date a little.
However once they are aware of a conviction I beleive (not 100% sure) they can retroactive it to the date it happened.

You can try googling it, but you can also just ask the prosecutor and they should tell you.

Re: Disobey Officer Traffic on RIDE
So first of all remember that even a 0 demerit point charge can still cause your insurance to go up. Demerits are completely unrelated to insurance and insurance companies do not care about demerit points, only convictions. They only see that you were found guilty of something and even if 0 demerits points they can still raise your rates.

Re: The filing date of a ticket
I usually call the Clerk of the Court on about day 9 or 10. By this time they should have received it.
You can also go to the Clerk of the Courts office and ask to view the original Certificate of Offence.
