Re: disobey no left turn sign

I agree with argyll, there is no point in booking an early resolution meeting at this point. Just show up a few minutes early on your court date and meet with the prosecutor before court starts. As he said, you won't be the only one, lots of people will be there looking to cut last minute deals.

Re: disobey no left turn sign

This is very helpful, I think I am going plea guilty at the court.
Is there still possibility for no demerits fine only if my reasoning is compelling?

Talk to the prosecutor before your trial, there is a good chance that they will be willing to let you plead guilty to a lessor charge or at least offer you a reduced fine. If your driving record ...

Unless the higher speed is documented somewhere I don't know how you would prove that the speed in the officer's notes was wrong.

Congratulations! While it would have been interesting to see this one play out in court I'm still glad that you managed to come out of this on the winning side.

Re: ADVICE NEEDED! I was not even speeding!

The only thing you can do for now is file for a court date and request disclosure. Once we see what is in the officer's notes we may be able to mount some sort of defence.

If you plead not guilty and send your tickets to the court. How do you get the disclosure?

Here is a link to a thread that goes through how to get disclosure: https://www.ontariohighwaytrafficact.com/courts-and-procedure/sample-disclosure-request-form-t2959.html

You can go to the website of the jurisdiction that issued the ticket to find out ...

Re: suspended on license

The maximum punishment for driving while disqualified is 5 years in prison. If he already has several previous convictions I think the chances of him getting jail time if gets caught again are quite high. You should also be aware that your insurance won't cover him if he gets into an accident which could leave both of you financially liable for any ...

* do I need a visa

No the UK is part of the visa waver program so you should be fine with just your passport as long as it is still more then 6 months away from expiring. If you were flying you would need to get an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), however I believe those are not required at land border crossings.

* Car wise ...

Re: 95km/h in posted 60km/h (windsor ontario)

I would file for a court date and request disclosure. Once you get the disclosure package you can post it here and we can see if there is any obvious defence. If the officer's notes look good and there is no obvious way to beat the ticket outright you can still meet with the prosecutor on the day of your trial and see if they will offer you a ...

The first line of section 168 tends to suggest that it only applies when head lights are required. Since head lights were not required at the time the time of the incident I think your friend can reasonably argue that he is not guilty of the offence.

168 When on a highway at any time when lighted lamps are required to be displayed on vehicles ...

Re: Help.. 114 (9) PROCEED CONTRARY SIGN INTERSEC

Given your description of the situation I think plea bargaining to a reduced charge was the right call. Unfortunately it sounds like the prosecution had a strong case and it would have been difficult to win outright. If you only have one minor ticket on your record your rates may go up, but it won't be a huge increase. Also some insurance companies ...

Plus the guys who car you hit can change his mind and still have you charged criminally. You damaged his car and that is Mischief to property.

OPS
I thought in Canada, it is the police who decide whether or not to charge someone, not private citizens. Is there a way to complain to the court to cause it to issue a summons?

Yes private citizens ...

Yep this looks like a classic fatal error scenario. The best thing to do in this situation is ignore the ticket and wait to see if it gets quashed. If it doesn't then you can appeal citing the London v Young case.

The Supreme Court ruled in the case Reference Re Manitoba Language Rights, 1985 that Manitoba was constitutionally required to draft its legislation and provide access to the courts in both English and French as section 23 of the Manitoba Act of 1870, the act that brought Manitoba into confederation, had guaranteed French language rights in the ...
