Re: set fines ammount, question

Ahhhh ! thats makes perfect sense, thanks highwaystar,
and yes in a reg zone,
cheeeeeeeeeers

safe for me to go out and enjoy the sunshine with a clear mind :)

Since the matter was dealt in court, its not the 'set fine' rate that applies, but rather the 'statutory' rate. In your case, at 29 over you should have paid:

29 km @ $4.50/km = $130 ...

Re: set fines ammount, question

I had a thought that somehow they had not changed my speed but even at 30 over @ $6/kil would make the basic fine $180, so I'm fore sure in the lower bracket..

<confused> just when I thought it was safe to go back into the water :)

set fines ammount, question

Hey guy's

I had my day in court, saw the prosecutor and as advised by all on here, she took me down from 30-49 to 20-29
saying that my original one was 4 points and bringing it down to 3 points and said how much the fine was which now I can't bloody well remember.

So I thought I pleaded to driving at 129 , she scribbled some notes on the form and ...

Re: Cops not showing at court

How often does it happen?

Not as often as it sounds. Officers can't simply not show up on a whim. If an officer doesn't show up, there's usually good reasoning behind it (eg. they've transferred somewhere else).

I assume if you opt for trial and he shows up you can't plea bargain down as you could have with a prosecutor meet (option 2)
in ...

Re: speeding 134 in 100KM/hr

your right and I think the (highlighted bit) applies to me, I just want the whole thing over and done with.
my first ever ticket (incorrect turn) 3 years ago, I just paid (the reduced fine they had an option) becuase where I come from, you dont fight ticketx becuase you ALWAYS end up worse, at least this time I'm going for an OPTION2 and still am ...

Cops not showing at court

How often does it happen?

I've seen a few posts where tickets have been thrown out because of this?

And how good a tactic is relying on this?

I assume if you opt for trial and he shows up you can't plea bargain down as you could have with a prosecutor meet (option 2)
in other words has the plea down boat sailed if you go for trial and the cop ...

Re: Failure to Stop at Stop Sign - 2nd offence

Stranger things have happened.

at the end of the day, you have 2 options
dont challange it, get a conviction.
challange it, and you always have a chance of something, errors, not turning up,

you still can get a conviction, but at least if you challange it, there is a slim chance, if you don't theres no chance.

depends if you have the time ...

Re: Failure to Stop at Stop Sign - 2nd offence

hi there,
not sure on the rest of this, but just getting demerit points wont make any differance to your insurance, only the conviction matters and a conviction is a conviction regardless of the fine.

question on intersections

I'm kinda confused.

I saw this...
Sorry to slightly hijack this;

Q>Is it against the law to wait in an intersection until the light turns red before turning left?
A>This is one of the most frequently asked questions. Motorists approaching a signalized intersection intending to turn left should enter the intersection only on a green light. Once ...

Re: Ran a red light camera - seeking advice

ahh ok, I get that, makes sense.

In the UK, capitol of speed/red light cameras
It's slightly different, the registered "owner" of the car gets a ticket, he has to then confirm if he or another was driving.
This came up a few times regarding something regarding human civil rights or something.

But either way, the registered owner of the car gets a ...

Re: Front turn signal lighting color.

the simplest answer is, if the lights don't conform, then you'll get pulled,
if you get a ticket or if you can get it dropped is a whole different ball of wax.

:?
I have read in another post that front turn signals must be amber and parking lights can be either amber or white. I have constructed my own turn signal/parking light assembly but ...

Re: Ran a red light camera - seeking advice

also as the OP went through a well gone red, should that be dangerous/careless driving as well?

2 questions/ comments .....

Jumping a red light, IMHO is FAR more dangerous than speeding or possibly any other offense. Because your blasting through an intersection, when another flow of traffic
is going. the OP said it was a good half a minute.. so ...

Re: Disobey Lane light

from my understanding;

option 2 is a one on one with the prosecutor, who will look over your file and make you an offer (if one is available)
you can accept ot or not. if not, you can then go to trial

Should I ask for trial?

If I happen to go to trial, any chance of JP changing the charge to 'Red Light - failed to stop' with increase fine and ...
