In Quebec, they'll suspend your license for unpaid fines whether it's a speeding ticket or a parking ticket. Registered owner takes all responsibility for his/her vehicle.
If you ignore the fine the first time around, they'll send you a notice again with an increased fine. They might do this again before the ticket goes into collections. SAAQ ...

Re: No disclosure after an adjournment - trial coming up
@bend - the JP has agreed, on record, with me being entitled to a typed version and an explanation of the shorthand.
The reason I bring it up is because usually they'll just have the officer pull you aside go through it with you right then and there. It's a lot easier than the alternative for both parties. I'm not sure why it wasn't offered. If ...

You received disclosure weeks before your first court date. Did the fact that the notes aren't legible ever come up while the officer was there in the same courtroom as you?

Re: Stunt driving at 144 km/h in an 80 zone really need advi
is common that they reduce it to over 49 and just give me a speeding ticket instead of a stunt driving one
You're a G2 driver going nearly double the limit in an 80km zone. You don't have a full license. You're a novice driver under what would be considered driving probation.
It's possible they may give you a reduced charge, but I wouldn't ...

If your sister ditches you on her insurance, your possible conviction won't matter to her. The conviction follows you, not the car.
She'll be asked to fill out an exclusion form (if you live in the same house) saying you won't drive the car

he gave me no chance to find the other one. I don't know if this makes a difference?
It's not a defense. He gave you an opportunity to surrender your insurance card. The act requires the operator to surrender it upon demand, not surrender it upon your own convenience. The officer asked you for your insurance. Upon demand, you handed him an ...

Re: Provided insurance, officer didn't take it
The officer was correct. You didn't provide a valid insurance card. You are required to provide a card upon demand. You provided an expired card. They are not required to wait while you search through your car a second time around. Obviously, there's going to be an allowance for you to initially locate your paperwork within reason.

1. If this fine is not paid by the due date to the Province of Alberta, what are the consequences for myself as an Ontario resident?
From a driving stand point, it's possible you would be considered suspended in Alberta. If you're caught driving there, you'd be driving with a suspended license.

Re: Red Light Camera Ticket - not my car
I just paid my Red light camera ticket ya 325$ , in my opinion i don't think they cares who own the car or who was driving the car, it's your job to keep your car or licence plate, what you can do now is go to that Mechanic Shop and ask who drove his car and ran red light camera, but if you wanna go to court instead i think you need a lot of ...

Re: Trial Date Question
You should make sure you haven't already been convicted before you worry about anything else.
Call the court house and find out your status.
You do not want to be sitting on a conviction with an unpaid fine.

Re: Can you request disclosure before Early Resolution?
I was reading some of your posts Jsherk regarding requesting disclosure of radar/lidar manual. I've learned a ton and I'm wondering if it's a useful strategy to go into the meeting with the prosecutor and perhaps show him that I'm well informed, will not accept a plea, and prepared to battle it out in trial - and that I'll be requesting a ton of ...

Re: Unsafe Lane Change?? Who's at fault and how do I report
Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't know you or your intentions. When someone says they don't want to screw themselves over before they decide to give their statement to a reporting centre, it's a big red flag.
You're at fault. I'm not sure how you claim you're not at fault. You changed lanes when it was occupied by another vehicle.

Re: Early Resolution? Do they even care?
Novice sanctions are something that are done by the ministry upon conviction. That's between you and the Ministry. Unless they offer a lower charge at the courthouse, you're out of luck. Unfortunately, handheld device is one of those charges they can't really change.
Worst case, find other alternatives for transportation.

Re: Unsafe Lane Change?? Who's at fault and how do I report
I really don't feel I was at fault although before I report I want to ensure I don't screw myself and end up with some crazy ticket or a bunch of demerit points.
I'm not sure how you plan on changing anything so you don't "screw yourself over". The accident happened however it happened. I'd suggest you probably don't try to avoid the officers ...
