1) There is no speed limit that is 109 km/h. You were speeding 109km/h in a 100km/h zone. First of all, you should have been in the right lane (as the left is for passing), and if he wanted to pass, lawfully he should go into the left lane to pass you. You should never increase your speed because a car wants to pass you.
2) Like said before, It ...

Re: First ticket, 70 km in 50 zone - need advice!
30 over is 4 points but 20 over is still 3 points. How many points do you have because of accident?
In general, Accident's do not accumulate demerit points. If there was a charge laid with the accident (i.e. Careless, Following Too Closely, Failure to Turn to Avoid Accident, etc.) then the points from the charge would be on the record. But ...

Are you sure it says 159.1 (2). If so, that is an incorrect section and can be dropped due to being a fatal error.
If it is 159 (2), here's what the HTA reads:
Upon approaching an emergency vehicle with its lamp producing intermittent flashes of red light or red and blue light or a tow truck with its lamp producing intermittent flashes of amber ...

Re: 147 in a 90 advice
The best thing to do is not hire a paralegal as yet. Go to your first apperance date, ask if you could review disclosure before you can plea. They usually will set another date for you. They might just offer 49 over (I've seen people charged with 180+ and get it reduced to 49 over, so its not uncommon). If they don't take the disclosure you recieve ...

I am confused. Who contacted your wife?
Did the police contact your wife?
Did your insurance company contact your wife?
Did a lawyer for the person on the bike contact your wife?
I am confused as well. Who said wife. The guy never once said wife in the entire post.
How did he get your mom's number? Obviously if she felt she caused the ...

Well maybe so, I'm planning on just ignoring the ticket. If it ends up getting convicted, I'll just appeal.

My Mom's English is limited but the insrance company insisting on that I can't talk on behalf of her as I was not at the scene.
That is correct. Since you are not independant, you cannot give an unbiased statement (since your mother was involved). The best bet, would be to ask the insurance company to provide a translator. Translators are ...

When you get a ticket, it looks like this.
http://ontariocourtforms.on.ca/static/media/uploads/courtforms/poa/POA0849/poa-0849-e.pdf
If you look at the last page, it says DO NOT MAIL. This is the way majority of the tickets get written.
Then what you would do is take it to the courthouse, and file it, and fill out one of these forms.

I am all for police protecting us from crime and criminals. But when there is no harm, no injury or no damage then there is no crime and the police should not be involved.
If, for example, speeding laws are there to keep us safe, then why does the prosecution not have to prove the speeding was unsafe in order to get a conviction? Because it would ...

Disobey Stop Sign - Fatal Error
So I received a ticket this morning for rolling a stop sign. I know I rolled it, officer had a dash cam as well. Decided to be honest and tell her I know I rolled it, I'm sorry that it was a bad habit. Officer returns to the car with a ticket for "Disobey Stop Sign - Fail to Stop". Set fine of $85, total payable $110. One thing to note: the section ...

Re: Wrong Address
When you submit the request for trial, they send it to the address listed on that form. I was issued 2 tickets with the incorrect address (license said my old address even though I changed it with MTO. They wouldn't issue me a new license because the old one was expiring.), and when I filled out the Notice to Appear, I put in the new address and my ...

Re: Got a 15 over while not on the insurance plan?
That is correct. From what I was aware of, you MUST inform the insurance company of all drivers registered at the address. Failure to do so can result in policy cancellation (This is my common knowledge, someone else can correct me if I am wrong.).
As for your ticket question, in my personal opinion, I would just pay it, as it is a no points ...

Re: Got a 15 over while not on the insurance plan?
Are you insured as an occasional driver? Or not listed on the policy at all? If you are listed as an occasional driver, your rates may go up. If your not on the policy at all, then it will not affect your father's insurance.

Re: Driving with Expired License
Thanks everyone for the responses. I ended up taking a cab and renewed my license. I'd rather pay $20 just to be safe then risk another HTA offense.
