Re: New moderator vote!

This thread got me digging for more information on the braking distance formula. What I found is that mass does have an effect on braking distance, but not in the 'ideal' system considered by that equation. The friction coefficient of a tire will change depending on load and tire pressure. High loads lead to a reduced friction coefficient, and tire ...

Methinks you haven't changed the time for DST. Have you been showing up an hour late to work?

Re: New moderator vote!

What's the context of that formula? Coefficients of friction can change according to velocity as the material heats up, but I think we've always assumed a constant coefficient in the formulas I worked with.

As for the rest of the challenges, I submit an alternate entry where I have combined both the Bookm and Foxworthy family albums.

I fully ...

Re: New moderator vote!

Hmm...I'll have to think about this. While I would love the job, hwybear has seniority and brings a unique point of view to the site. There's just something about his attitude that demands respect.

Can't we all get hired? I'm part of a team of ten moderators on the other site. While it takes a bit more organization to keep from stepping on ...

Re: server problems??

It did log me out for some reason two days ago, but I logged back in and haven't had a problem since.

Is it still doing it for you? Clearing your cookies should straighten things out, although you'll have to log in again for all your other sites.

Is this why no one has been posting lately? I felt sad and alone hitting refresh and seeing no new ...

Re: Legality of Mohawks on helmets

I can't find the definition for it, but I'm pretty sure a "motor assisted bicycle" refers to gasoline-powered bicycles, the ones that require the new low-speed M license. An electric bicycle is called a "power assisted" bicycle and doesn't require a license to operate, and the only helmet difference between that and a normal bicycle is the over-18 ...

Re: Legality of Mohawks on helmets

According to "R.R.O. 1990, REGULATION 610", motorcycle helmets can meet any of these certifications:
-CSA Standard D230
-Snell
-British Standards Institute
-DOT FMVSS 218

The DOT standards were easy too look up, and they only seem to prohibit rigid cosmetic projections. I'm not sure if just the act of modification voids the DOT certification, but ...

Re: Moderator Needed! Post your Resume Here or PM Me!

Yeah, this should be left with somebody who's tried it and is still crazy enough to do it. I've been a mod on one forum, but I found it difficult to stay neutral in some more flammable discussions. All the power to those with that level of self control. As for me.. I've been here less than a week and already gave one member a piece of my mind ...

Sorry, I should have known there would be something in your contract.

I'll just wait for more slip-ups and put the pieces together.

Re: Whats the charge for driving without eyeglasses/contacts?

Would it be section 32, subsection 9?
Driving in breach of condition prohibited

(9) No person shall drive a motor vehicle on a highway while contravening a condition contained in his or her drivers licence or imposed by the regulations. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 32 (9).

Subsection 17 gives a penalty for subsection 9, but it only applies to ...
