Re: HELP WITH THIS PLEASE!!!!!

I have seen actual lawyers handle major cases in court and make the Crown prosecutors dance around in circle (both cases I was a witness).
With that being said, most constables are on the level. It really sucks that you got one that's either a natural a-hole or on a really bad day. That's the biggest issue with bill 203. Whatever happens, you're ...

Re: HELP WITH THIS PLEASE!!!!!

so basically if he comes up with a good enough STORY im screwed???
what ever happened to us needing proof beyond a shadowable doubt??not just a story from some pissed off cop??

The Liberals happened.
Even before them, in court, the constable's story is usually held as gospel. Your only chance would be to have solid proof (either in self ...

Re: 186 km/hr on the Gardiner

Internal investigations aren't really public and most taxpayers like to have a transparent picture of what their dollars are financing.
It's the equivalent of what a parliament member is doing with his budget. If he spends it on booze and hookers, he'll (theoretically, but not in practice) get into some major hot water.

Re: HELP WITH THIS PLEASE!!!!!

On a bad note, you're out a G for sure (towing+impound) and you'll never be able to get that money back. Also he could be a scripter in which case he'll write a very nice story for his court appearance and the disclosure package.
If he's stupid enough to be honest about it, the manner in which you have been caught could possibly put enough holes in ...

Re: 186 km/hr on the Gardiner

Public servants caught breaking the law on taxpayer's time and with taxpayer's gear should be put under closer scrutiny.
Now if a cop got nailed in a personal vehicle, on his/her own time, he/she shouldn't be put under any extra scrutiny even though there is considerable pressure to put more scrutiny on people who enforce the laws when they break ...

Re: 186 km/hr on the Gardiner

The failure of democracy is that those people have the same say as a person who takes the time to become familiar with the issues and can fully comprehend the consequences of the vote and what their elected representatives stand for. In my riding even Hitler could win a parliament seat if he ran under the fiberal banner.

Re: Interesting article about court appearances. Opinions?

The problem would be defining "irrefutable" and the usual abuses within the system. What if there's only one officer? What if the tape is grainy? Where do you draw the line?
As for killing people over armed robberies that didn't involve any injuries.... I don't think I need to outline the reservations, especially since anything can be called a ...

Re: Pulling over a group of bikes

That sucks. With the state of the mining industry, I'm struggling to keep my Fizzer running, too. By the way I might have misrepresented my experience by 3 bikes...
1) Also rode the 690 Duke
2) SV650 (naked)
3) 250 Virago (Humber course) :8

Re: Bad Drivers?

My take on it is that common sense and common courtesy can't be legislated no matter how much the fiberals try. Those come under the headings of "education" and "parenting."

Re: Interesting article about court appearances. Opinions?

There have been cases where an innocent person was executed. If they're given a life sentence, that can at least be corrected later on.

Re: 186 km/hr on the Gardiner

Well that part of the Gardiner can get pretty nasty and the guy should have probably been nailed with careless.
What worries me more is the noise that the rabble is making in the comments section. That law should save lives? That law exists and the guy was still breaking it. Bravo, you moron (whoever posted that comment).

Re: Pulling over a group of bikes

Bill 203 made running much more appealing to quite a few otherwise conservative riders. It raised the stakes too much.
I've only ridden 600cc supersports, but the closest thing to a liter bike I've taken out for a spin was a 990 superduke. http://www.webbikeworld.com/ktm/990-super-duke/ktm-990-super-duke.htm (I rode the 09 model) That thing had all ...

Re: Pulling over a group of bikes

As I said, most of the guys I ride with are in their late 20's to mid-30's, with honest jobs and a clear idea of where the line is. We do get the occasional squid that wants to tag for a ride, but we usually just make a stop and tell'em to get lost.

Re: seat belts in taxi cabs

As far as I know, you have to wear a seat belt even in taxis. Considering the way they're driven around Toronto, it sounds like a great idea to me. If you don't drive, the $110 ticket won't really affect you as you aren't facing large insurance rate increases for every "conviction." I'd be the last person to recommend paying a ticket, but under the ...
