Not In Safety - Rear End
So recently I rear ended someone, but not hard at all. We were stopped at a red light. I let my foot off the brakes, rolled forward and accidentally hit the person in front of me very lightly. There were no damages but the guy still called the cops.
The cop gave me a ticket as "Started in stop - not in safety", fined me $110 and 2 demerit points. The cop himself told me to go to court.
I'm not too sure what to do, but I definitely don't want to pay $110 or get 2 demerit points. Should I plead guilty or not guilty? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Not In Safety - Rear End
Not sure there's much you can do in this particular case.
You can try plea-bargaining or hoping the officer or the witness doesn't show up... but this charge does seem to fit based on your description. Usually for things like "follow too closely" or other charges, we recommend, if nothing else, to plea bargain it down to a lesser charge. But what you're charged with is pretty accurate so I'm not too confident that you'd have any success. If you want to, though, you can fight it; ask for a trial, get disclosure to see if there's sufficient evidence against you, etc.
