Hello Everyone, I own a vehicle which came from Montreal where they dont have front license plates. Its a new vehicle and fairly high end so i didnt want to drill holes in my front bumper to install the front plate so i have it on my windshield. Today i was pulled over and the officer game me a ticket for failure to display two plates and i told him that i do have two plates and that they are displayed, but he didnt care and moved on. Any help since i was pretty sure the traffic act said that all you need is to display two plates and that was all. Thank you

What if someone is just visiting from Montreal for a day trip? Do they still need to have a front plate?

No. Ontario owned / registered vehicles must conform to law of Ontario. Quebec has their rules for their vehicles, there's no way to obtain a second plate in Quebec. Equipment like mufflers, window tint etc must conform to the roadways on which they operate regardless of home turf.
