I was told most government cars, and police cars do not have an insurance policy on them. Some say large departments are self insured while others are not. Anyone know the answer?

Re: Who Insures Police Cars?
The Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act provides a list of exemptions regarding insurance requirements in Ontario:

Basically just Federal and Mennonite vehicles are exempt from the act, though both are still self insured. It's also quite likely that larger municipalities or the Province have their own insurance policies, though it would still need to meet all the same requirements of a commercial policy.
