Drive - Handheld Communication Device

by: Myoogen on

hello, just a quick question.

Is this considered a minor offence or major?

I have tried to google and can only find articles about the fine increase and they say "distracted driving" is a minor offence.

Clarification would be helpful.

Thank you, and I apologize if this is the wrong section. It carries no demerit points at this time and I could not see a no demerit section.

Go to page 12, it's generally classified as a minor conviction.

They're also adding S78.1 to one of the novice class escalating sanctions.

1st conviction = 30 day license suspension

2nd conviction = 90 day license suspeions

3rd conviction = license cancelled, re-apply for G1/M1

If distracted driving is killing more drivers than impaired driving; its days in the minor category status are numbered.
