Notice Of Trial - Insufficient Charge?

Unread post by thedude »

Hello!

I recently received my trial notice and was going to request disclosure. However my notice of trial states: "You did commit the offence of RED LIGHT contrary to the HIGHWAY TRAFFIC ACT section 144(18)"

This sounds dumb to me (offence of red light??), but does it matter? My ticket states "Disobey red light". Is the charge what it says on my ticket or the notice of trial?

Go by the charge on your ticket. Notices of trial are typically just automated printouts, they frequently have shortened or altered wordings on them.
