Car Pool Lane Mistake

by: alex1002 on

The 403 was very busy today. And I saw everyone was moving over and I changed lane too. Later in realized and saw signs two people in the car only. I try to leave the lane when realizing my mistake of course I waited for broken lines. An opp saw me and pulled me over. Gave me ticket.

Do I have any odds in fighting this. It was a honest mistake. I don't usually drive 403.

Many people do make honest mistakes but not meaning to do something doesn't give you an excuse. Going to trial and admitting you were in that lane and solo is admitting guilt. So unless it didn't happen the way you said then then charge is not going to disappear.

How is it everyone else's fault YOU comitted an offence?

HOV lanes are clearly marked. They are usually marked both with signage and road markings in the form of a diamond. It's usually marked every 100 metres on the pavement. It's your responsibility to know how to read Ontario road signs when you get behind a wheel. While it may have been an honest mistake, ignorance is not a valid defense.
