Got A Ticket

by: Nalvi on

Hi guys,

My friend just got her first ticket. She has paid the fine in full and on time.

her concern is whether her parents will find out about it. ie. they took down her address. (she lives in Ottawa, while the incident happened in Waterloo Ontario). Basically will her parents find out about the fact that she got a ticket?

Thanks for your replies,

Its very unlikely the police would notify her parents unless they wanted to confirm your friend had permission to drive the car or they needed to confirm ownership/insurance information.

That being said, the conviction will go on your friends driving record. If her parents are paying for her car insurance, they should be notified since it can impact insurance rates. It could be problematic if her parents told the provider she had no convictions and they found out otherwise.
