Re: Crazy drivers found

Apparently, Ontario is 2-nd best place to drive in NA, only after NWT.

Re: Motorcycle - Riding with Headphones and No Mirrors (Legal?)

You know, I've never had that happening to me. My guess is the same as for the car not having mirrors...

Re: Crazy drivers found

You know, you just gave me a great idea - listing places where it might be dangerous for us Ontario drivers to drive.

Let's start the list
1. GTA
2. Montreal
3. South end of Chicago
4................

Re: Motorcycle - Riding with Headphones and No Mirrors (Legal?)

1. It is legal to do so.

2. No, you must have at least one mirror
here's the law concerning your question #2

OHTA
66. (1) Every motor vehicle other than a motorcycle shall be equipped with,
(a) a device for cleaning rain, snow and other moisture from the windshield so constructed as to be controlled or operated by the driver;
(b) a mirror or ...

Re: Ticket for going through amber light

Quebec road = Quebec rules. I am not familiar with those, however:
If they stopped your husband, they should have stopped the Quebec driver too. If they did not then you definetly have a case. You can also easily argue that the cop himself is at fault, for he must have ran the red light, which is illegal even for the cop.

Re: Speed limits

Why is the speed limit still at 100km/h on the 400 series highways??. That limit was set when the highway was desigend way before airbags and crumple zones and when the driving tests consisted of driving in the straight line.
I have seen a post by someone, who claims that he was one of the people involved, that 400-series highways were designed ...

We don't need the press conference. We have a very good discussion right here, where everyone is invited, including the press conference!

Re: Emissions Test

Why not concentrate on bigger vehicles such as buses
Hey - Lay your mind off the buses. One bus can carry 55 (that's what Greyhound and Coach Canada say) people. One car usually carries one person. Even though one bus uses more fuel than a car, when the bus carries 10 people that is already better than each one of them using a car. And they ...

Re: Following too closely charges

I think you can definitely beat this!

There is NO proof you were following too closely. The police was not at the scene when this happened, therefore how are they going to give actual proof to this incident in court? They cant, because they have none! The ticket is based on the speculation and judgment of the police at the scene, but that is not ...

Emissions Test

Does anyone find it ridiculous that any new car, built to meet emissions standards, is required to take the emissions test, even if it is guaranteed to pass for the first 6 or so years? And at the same time, older vehicles (20+ years old) do not have to take the test, even though they are the ones that produce more emissions than new vehicles ...

Re: New law

Why is it that we never hear of police issuing tickets to drivers for driving with bald tires or poor brakes after all those are the things that usually cause accidents. All you hear is that speed was a factor or the word "racing" is mentioned.
The truth is, that speed of a moving vehicle is readily measured by a laser. Neither the boldness of ...

Not just speeding

I am pretty sure that speed was only one of the factors. I see this terrible trend on the road, as winter comes people drive even more agressive! I'd say speed coupled with following too closely, inability to handle a car in the winter, inadequate tires!!!, poor brakes, lack of ABS, lack of skill to avoid the crash (you can spin the car around ...

Hmmm

Next time you are being tailgated, just VERY SLIGHTLY tap the brake, so that the brakes do not come on, but the brake lights do. If the guy behind is not a complete idiot, he will get the point.
Not the case if you are going under the speed limit though, I hate ppl who do that too... When people drive 40 in the 60 zone, that just makes me mad, but ...

Only point you can argue

The only way to argue such a charge would be a statement that you had to make a right turn immediately after the left turn, in which case you do not have to make a left turn to a left lane. The road on which you had to make a right turn has to be very close to the intersection. If that was not the case however - good luck. Keep us posted on your ...

hmmm

Perhaps (and I think that it will make more sense for health reasons) we should ban parents from taking their kids to MacDonalds, as the health-benefiting results of such decision will greatly outweigh any second-hand smoke risks they suffer in the car. On the other hand, If I am a smoker and I am travelling on a highway with my kids, the only ...
