Re: Zero Tolerance for 1st 5 years of driving...

You know, maybe they should ban parents from buying souped-up cars for their kids. Maybe they should hold parents accountable when they don't take the keys away from their kids when they drive like Mulcahy's son. Reasonable? Not really, but to a certain extent that'd make more sense than these new laws.

Was it Cicero who said "The more laws, the less justice"? We need to get rid of the clutter of old laws, not make new ones every time there is an accident.....

MS. CARTER: I believe it'd be the Crown's submissions first as we're offering no defense evidence.
Lawmen: you just don't get it. Charter rights are so 1990s. This is Ontario 2008: Roll-over. Play dead. Good defendant.:-)

Haha!

I'm not the submissive type.

This is the only s. 172 case I've seen posted. Apparently there are thousands of them ...

Re: Speeding 146km in 100km (reduced to 129km)

You should plead not guilty (the trial option) and see the disclosure. It will be mailed to you once you request it, no need picking it up. See a prosecutor on one of the dates that will be provided about lowering your charge to 15 over. In the worst case scenario 29 over is the worst you will be charged with.

Our first Anniversary

To: ALL FORUM MEMBERS

We are having a little celebration today. Today, www.OntarioHighwayTrafficAct.com is exactly one year old!
The domain is older than that, but the forum has been only finalized on November 13, 2007.

When we have started the forum, we have had no clue of what it was going to turn out into. In so far, thanks for all your ...

Re: BILL 117

I sure hope that this bill gets voted down (although my opinions seemingly aren't too popular in the Queen's Park). Just another cash grab more than anything. Why stop at motorcycles? Why not have "no kids under 14" in all "Vehicles" on all "Highways"?

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety [quoted via Wikipedia ] Roundabouts are safer than both traffic circles and traditional intersections—having 40% fewer vehicle collisions, 80% fewer injuries and 90% fewer serious injuries and fatalities (according to a study of a sampling of roundabouts in the United States, compared with ...

Re: following too close without accident

I've heard this rough formula, that is the length of braking travel in metres roughly equals 1/2 of your speed in kilometres per hour, that is if you are going 100 KMH it will take about 50 m to stop (that ties with 42 m to stop + reaction time to press the brake). Just a good short way of measuring your stoppage distance. Works for cars only.

Re: Speeding ticket, 31km/h over

Did you post this elsewhere by any chance?

Ask for disclosure first, see what evidence the cop has against you. Remember, he must have the reading from the radar. Him saying something like "I was going 135, he was a bit slower, thus 131" won't do.
