Hwybear ...
Was curious as to why MTO had decided that it would be the OPP to patrol the highways - why doesn't MTO monitor the roads and have LEO as 'backup' should anything get out of control.
When I was driving truck you could see them patrolling and pulling over trucks that were obviously breaking the law [passing ALL other trucks, unsecured ...

Re: Internet has it's Dis-Advantages
[RESPONSE FROM LAST TWO STATEMENTS]
Hello Moderator ...
It seems we have gotten off track re:governors
Apparantly increasing the speed limit on atleast ALL 400 series of roads in Ontario is a good idea - is that correct?
I beg to differ in that not all 400 series roads are designed for an increase of high speed.

Re: Internet has it's Dis-Advantages
Your last statement about the bad habits from other countries is so true, as I have seen their maneuvering in traffic and have often thought just where did they get there license??
Whether it's a tractor-trailer or a taxi they seem to think it's OK to continue with their bad habits - until they end up driving in weather they're not familiar with ...

Re: Internet has it's Dis-Advantages
Well you make some interesting points although.........
I realize that someone could still get a stunt driving charge with even a 100km/h speed governor on city streets, that's seems pretty obvious - it was controlling the 'flow of traffic' [speed] on the highway where the use of governors I beleive would make a definite positive outcome ... less ...

Unless I'm reading your statement wrong, it sounds as if SPEED is GOOD?
I am very familiar with the 400 highway series of roads, as I had driven on them daily when driving truck
If speed governors aren't the answer to slow vehicles down WHAT IS?
Maybe we should take down ALL speed signs on highways and see what happens ... I can only imagine the ...

Re: Road 'Boundary' Lines
Well you both make good comments, although I'd be interested to know the 'stats' from NYS MV regarding the results from the 'old' paint they had used on the highways with the new reflective lines ... has it helped with less people running off the road in the winter-time, etc... Maybe someone within the forum would have access to this information ...

Let me know your thoughts on this article
All levels of government are preaching belt tightening and budget cutting. We understand that the recession has put extra pressure on governments and they need to find savings. It is surprising in this era of restraint that it is so easy to find examples of wasteful, bizarre and just dumb things that ...

Re: Internet has it's Dis-Advantages
Sadly I have to agree with EphOph .... in that the government will NOT 'enforce' vehicle manufacturers to put governors on the assembly line.
Sadly the government is making too much money with 'human nature' in that 'some' people are sold on the commercials of the responsiveness of these new vehicles.
I believe if the government did the right ...

Re: Road 'Boundary' Lines
Well I have to agree with Squishy ... the paint that MTO uses isn't doing it's job and it would be nice if they would rectify this problem ... who is the one that makes the decision?
NYS road paint that is actually reflective so it is very clear at night and shows through rain and falling snow.

Re: HEADLIGHTS ON SHOULD BE MANDATORY
I think one of the problems is actually with how certain manufacturer's wire their DRL systems. Some cars turn on the dash lights with the DRL, causing motorists to think all their lights are on when in fact they're not.
Well unfortunately not everyone is playing along.
In regard to your statement ...
So basically if the weather is bad and you ...

Well it's obvious that it is known, although if people see that there are no police at the noted spot, they can easily pass this info off by text/call from cell and with speed comes consequence.

Road 'Boundary' Lines
Hello ...
Am I the only person is Ontario that wonders why it was determined that the lines on the road [specifically the outer edge lines-shoulder of road] are painted white ... as the lines are not too visible in bad weather - especially snow as the white line blends with the snow.
I have seen a 'test strip' of various colors on the 401 ...

I can't understand why people don't have enough 'common sense' and 'courtesy' to drive with their headlights on - especially in bad weather/road conditions

I see by your response that you are either a retired police officer or still working within the force by your answers to my questions, which is fine.

First off ... if this is the wrong forum for posting, I apologize as I could not find one that pertains to my question
