Re: Question regarding a representative in court?

You lost me on the "The ticket you were issued is invalid"??
And, how will the courts know if I paid my friend to help me out?

Yes, I just got my ticket on the Sunday.
Yes, Markham is part of York region and falls under Regional Municipality of York.

Re: "Disobey sign"...what sign? (Hwy 401 & Nelson)

Some LEOs on this forum have said that the pictures must be taken in .RAW format to be admissible in court though.

This sounded a bit strange. So I looked up some info about RAW formats if anyone is interested.

What is a RAW format?

Re: MTO

So' I'll fax them over in the a.m after I get them and see how fast I get reinstated. The letter did say " You driver's license will be reistated when you file a satisfactory medical report."

Please keep us updated. This is good information to know.

I think that they will want to see a doctors report stating your ok to drive. It all depends on ...

Re: Am I suspended?

GC, there is no merit to your postings.

Its called Discretion. MTO is legally allowed to take discretion over WHO they issue licenses to!

Driving is not a Right, its a privilege! Its not a contract either; there is no binding agreement for any specified period that says you can or can not drive. you don't pay to drive, nor do you get paid to ...

Re: Am I suspended?

We're dealing with an alcohol issue here, not medical. The OP did not drive to the hosiptal while impaired. He was taken there.

An "alcohol issue" doesn't exist, its called alcoholism. Drinking too much is a medical issue.

The HTA articulates you cannot sue a doctor who submits anything to the MOT.

I never suggested suing the doctor ...

Re: Am I suspended?

The ER/Hospital Doctor can contact the MTO and they can suspend your license IF you are UNFIT TO DRIVE!

There is no legality to it, nor can you sue them as suggested by GC.

Suppose you have a stroke, heart attack, epilepsy attack, have alcoholism/drug problem, and you go to the ER or hospital in a bad condition. The Doctors or Nurses that ...

Re: Government proposes random breathalyzer tests

http://www.canada.com/sacrifice+rights+fight+drunk+driving/2067312/story.html

There is no doubt that drinking and driving remains a problem that needs to be addressed and it is often the case that harsher laws fail to take account of more effective solutions.

In this case, we need to start by acknowledging the fact that alcohol is the most ...

Re: Government proposes random breathalyzer tests

This is just more random checking, which will go against our Canadian Charter of Rights.

David Eby, the executive cirector of the B.C. Civil Liberties Association, expressed worry about automatic testing from police.

"Canadians generally have a feeling that the Charter of Rights and Freedoms is a good thing, that being free from arbitrary search ...

Government proposes random breathalyzer tests

The federal government is considering tough new legislation that would allow police to perform random breathalyzer tests on drivers, whether they suspect the person has been drinking or not.

Re: can i represent my dad for red light camera violation

so any suggestions now? do i meet the prosecutor outside the court to plea bargain or what ...

You will get your court date when you file your ticket with option 3. Probably looking at a couple months.
tonygambini wrote: Like do I have to show up in court to make my court date and pick (option 3) before the 15 days (to pay the ticket) is up?
Thanks
Yes, or mail it in before 15 days.

Re: Failure to produce a license when pulled over

surrender driver's licence, ownership, insurance must all be shown upon demand. There is no 12/24/48/72 etc hr grace period in Ontario.

There may not be a legal grace period, but the cop can give you time to show up at the police station and show your proof. It happened to me for failure to provide insurance, as I had an outdated one at the time ...

thanks
Option 3 would have provided you with a First Attendance date when you filed your ticket. You would go on that date and plea bargain to a lower fine.
