Driving with Expired License

I know, I'm really stupid and irresponsible for not taking care of this before, but nonetheless, s*** happens.

So my license expires today, and I forgot to renew it. Is it still valid (expiry date is 2016/07/15) for me to drive today until midnight (gonna run on my lunch to go renew it), or has it already expired at 12AM today (essentially I'm ...

Re: Form 4 Offence Notice - content

Jsherk, I believe he's talking about the part of the ticket where for example, an officer reduces a speeding ticket, they put "R" in that code box.

What was the offense for? Maybe it's a hand written ticket and the R looks like a V?

I was told that you have to file it at the one on the ticket. Can anyone else chime in on this?

Re: G2 Driver - 100 in 60, reduced to 80 in 60

Anything 1km-49km is going to impact your insurance the exact same way. Insurance doesn't calculate on a per km basis. It's all falls under the minor bracket. What that means is anything that falls under the minor bracket is issued the same surcharge. Example, they may decide that your son is hit with a 5% surcharge for a first offense that falls ...

Re: Handheld Device Ticket?

A conviction for that offence is only 3 points, unless you have other points on your licence you shouldn't get the suspension. A G1 or G2 driver gets the 30 day suspension when they get 4 points in total.

A G1 or G2 driver gets suspended for 30 days when:

-They Disobey a Driving Restriction (BAC over 0, more passengers between 12am-5am ...

Re: Handheld Device Ticket?

The only way to do that is to beat the ticket in court. What you would have to do is plead NOT GUILTY and request a TRIAL with the officer present. Once you get your court date, you can request disclosure (officer's notes) and post it here to get our opinions. I wouldn't suggest getting an early resolution meeting because it's the same meeting you ...

Re: I Really Am Unlucky.

Question: Is the conviction on your record from the trial date, or the date you pay it? Since I have 6 months to pay (January) would it come up on my record then, or will it still show from yesterday?

Re: I Really Am Unlucky.

Turns out I ended up lucky on this one. Had my trial yesterday. Officer Showed up, with a pretty tight disclosure. So I walked in to speak with the prosecutor and he offers me a 15 over (Speeding 115 in a 100 zone). I took it, and the JP gave me 6 months to pay it. 0 Points and a $52.50 fine opposed to 4 points and a $317 fine. I'd take this as a ...

Re: Unreasonable stunt tow/ impound charges in TO

Unlike my name, fortunately I have never had my car impounded. However, my brother has had his vehicle (registered in my name) impounded twice for 7 days. The first time the impound was $1500 while the second time it was $1300. Impound rates vary from lot to lot, but to my knowledge, minimum is around $1000 to get your car back.

Re: Looking for advice on stunt driving first court appearan

I have more than 3 speeding tickets, and I still get roadside reductions (sometimes even warnings). Stuff happens, people make mistakes, that's just life. Not to mention the OP has 3 speeding tickets in 5 years, so personally I wouldn't consider that a serial speeder. If you had 3 speeding tickets in 6 months, that's another story. As for the OP, I ...

Careless Charge - No Accident

Well, after today's incident, I have decided to hang up these keys and buy a metropass.

I was driving a main road (60 km/h speed limit ) and I was doing approx. 60-70 (learned my lesson and stopped speeding excessively). So a car rolls a red stop and cuts me off. I slam on the brakes and swerve into the left lane (checking to see if it was clear ...

Re: Need help with a traffic ticket

Me personally am alike with JSherk. I believe in fighting everything with everything I got. Unfortunately, there's some you can't win easily. Even an experienced lawyer will have a hard time getting this charge dropped. One thing to take into consideration, once you start the trial, the speed will be amended up to the FULL AMOUNT. Therefore, if it ...
