What's interesting about this is that any Administrative Lapse or Suspension cannot be used in calculating your premium as per FSCO..
This includes suspensions for STUNT DRIVING and other offences if they are successfully argued in court.
For example: if someone was pulled over for an alleged stunt driving offense, and then went to court and was ...

Re: mirrors too small
Was section 66b the one you were charged with on the ticket?
If so, they would have to establish that your mirrors did not afford you a clear view of the roadway and/or vehicles behind you" (I'm paraphrasing).
Or that they were placed in a manner wherein this would be difficult.
What type of vehicle were you driving?

Re: Enough is enough
My view on this probably won't be popular, but it comes from having plenty of relatives and friends who have dealt with both systems. Public insurance has lower rates for drivers, but they also have lower payouts for people who get injured (substantially lower). ICBC had a particularly insidious advertisement, where they showed how they treated ...

Re: Driver fail to provide identification; (not stopped in veh)
I am not a lawyer. This is not legal advice.
However, in my opinion, if you were in charge of a motor vehicle and the officer observed that, and there is no doubt that you were in charge of a motor vehicle (remember this doesn't mean driving, you basically had the keys on you), and the officer requested your driver's license, if you refused, then ...

If you were charged with S.33, the officer is right.

Was it a "reasonable inspection"?

Re: Enough is enough
Agreed, non compliant drivers and vehicles need to be taken off the road and I hope that plate recognition setup the OPP was or is testing works out. Hope Ontario finally gets the uninsured vehicles project thing sorted out too or introduces public insurance with rates that even the poorest people can afford.

Re: Forced to abandon appeal.
Theoretically you could seek damages in a civil suit that correspond to your increases in car insurance as a result of the officer's forgery, could you not?
I'm not a lawyer but that sounds reasonable. Obviously, you would need to consult a lawyer to get some real legal advice on that issue.
I wonder if you could hire someone to go to the appeal ...

I even believe video games help people cognively progress. Any takers?
Yeah, I'll take this one on. I've got a Psych degree. Playing video games incessantly and spending a lot of time on the computer has been linked to higher rates of ADHD.

This may sound like an odd solution, but try getting your M1? If you just take the test, it costs around $17.50 and is a written test very similar to a G1.

Re: Explanation of "Motor Vehicle involved" on ticket
My trial was like a train-wreck.. It got out of my control very quickly. At one point the prosecutor and officer were able to convince the justice that this box "likely" meant that there was no other vehicle involved in the incident.

Not necessarily by more policing and harsher laws and punishments. Whatever happened to proper driver training and BETTER not MORE laws.hwybear wrote:A person is driving and has a medical issue that kills them and then has a crash is the ONLY death we should accept on our roads. Everything else was preventable in some way, shape or form.

Now how sweet would it be if licensing for cars was this rigorous but you could drive however fast you see fit?
