Re: Turning into left turning lane from straight lane
Laying a charge in an MVC and being "at fault" are often two different things. Regulation 668 of the Insurance Act sets out At Fault Rules for Insurance companies. In this case, i believe the other driver would be 100% at fault. They could also be charged with the unsafe lane change HTA section 142(1). Determining your speed in this situation would ...

No.
Google Ontario photo ID card and you will find a link to the MTO for this card. Same size as a Licence but is a purple colour. They may not issue you one though because it says it's for persons who do not hold a drivers licence. Technically you still do but it's suspended. Cant hurt to phone and ask though.

Like I said, I've never seen or heard of a new province wide regualtion that would prohibit officers from setting up radar at the top of or bottom of a hill.
I don't believe it exists. A speed limit is a speed limit, regarless of whether there is a hill or not.

I know of no such provincial regulation that would prohibit the use of radar in these locations. Could it just be a local agency policy?

As far as I know there is no standard for the codes used in this box. It's left up to each agency. the only one I've ever used is an R to indicate that a speeding ticket has already been reduced at roadside.

In my experience, all of my evidence for a Part I is written on the back of the ticket and very little is in the notebook. The only thing in my notebook is simply a quick repeat of the very basic information found on the front of the ticket.

Simon is correct. The internal tests take about 20 seconds and the only other test to do is to make sure the patrol speed indicated on the radar co-relates to the patrol vehicles speed. If the antenna on the radar is straight, then the speeds will co-relate easily. Just a thought. By any chance doe s the manual you have say "This manual not ...

Either that or report the collision to your insurance company. So you're either going to pay for it up front or possibly with an insurance rate hike. Regardless of whether you were charged as a result of the collision or not, the insurance company will find you 100% at fault.

Actually there is a set of rules to follow for a Suspect Apprehension Pursuit. Instead of spewing them all out, here's the link to the Reg.

A quick note about any "manual" you may find on the internet. Chances are: 1) It may be out of date and 2) The Canadian manual is very different than the U.S version. I certainly wouldn't rely on its accuracy for court purposes.

You should seriously look into some legal advice.
The $2000 fine and a one year suspension were given out in court while i was there to a G2 driver who had no prior convictions and the Justice of the Peace had even considered a jail sentence. Now this was for 153 km/h in a 60 km/h zone so it was a bit more over the limit.

Re: Received suspension because notice sent to old address.
Service Ontario hasn't kept those licence renewal documents for a few years now. They simply input all of the data and give it right back to you. They also don't always print off a new permit for you for an address change unless you ask for one. It's probably been changed on the computer system though.

Thanks for editing the post to clear it up. Your record of conviction will be shared with the Province of Ontario and demerit points will be issued based on the Ontario point system. Likely the Province of Alberta will create a DL number for you in that Province and suspend your licence upon non-payment. This means that if you are caught driving in ...

Re: 55 over - not paying
A police officer in Ontario can not issue a ticket with a set fine for going 55 km/h over the limit. It's either a summons to appear in court under section 128 (speeding) or a summons under section 172 (stunt) in which case they would have seized your vehicle and suspended your licence at roadside.

Stanton answered the question above. "you must surrender the original document"
I'm of the same opinion, there is no provision under the CAIA to use a "true" copy of your insurance. It must be the original pink slip.

Most insurance companies would probably consider this a major offence. You were only 3km/h away from a stunt driving charge.
The officer doesn't have to show you the radar and in most cases it wouldn't be considered safe to do so anyway.

There isn't a 136(1)(9)
Could be a poorly shaped letter on the copy of the ticket.

Add onto that the cosine angle effect which is always to the benefit of the target and you have a displayed speed on the radar which is always less than the targets actual speed.

Generally, motor vehicles are pulled over because the driver is alleged to have committed and offence. However, driving is a privilege in Ontario and as such I would expect the police to pull people over to confirm that they in fact have a drivers licence, insurance and a permit for the motor vehicle. Unless our officers read minds, the only way ...

Notice of conviction would come from the court in the area where the ticket was issued. They would then pass the information on and then the MTO would issued your suspension. Sounds like the notice from the court didn't get sent. This in no way invalidates your suspension though.
