Thanks for posting the follow up too! Awesome that it worked out for you, congrats.
I am interested in knowing if they did offer you a reduced charge before dismissing it?

Re: Ticket mailed back one day late? Automatic conviction?
It should be alright :) I called the courts after I mailed a request for Early Resolution to ensure they received it, and on my first call they had not, it was past the 15 days. I was reassured that there is a grace period and not to worry, they suggested I call back 2 or 4 days later and when I did, they had it. I was dealing with the court in ...

Re: Charged with careless g2 driver
You may want to look at some case law on careless at http://www.canlii.org/en/ to give you a better idea of what is happening when trials occur for careless.
My understanding is that when you meet with the prosecutor you will likely be offered a plea bargain. As a G2 driver, any conviction, including agreed to pleas, resulting in 4 or more ...

Here is the link to that case:

I've looked for others like it, and so far, like OP, not finding much. Hope it helps.

Re: Rear end collision
Reporting it now, can result in charges. My experience is not very different from yours, except there was under $1000 worth of damage. Once it was reported, a charge of careless driving was laid 3 weeks later. Paying for the damage does not make it so charges are not laid, however if paying keeps the other driver contented and no report is needed ...

Re: suspended licence - escalating sanctions: HTA offence
I take it your son held a G1 or G2 license at the time of the offense. As such he is only permitted to acquire 4 points before having his license suspended for 30 days. No further charges needed.
When I read about the escalating sanctions, there was a note from which I understood that once a suspension is put in place, demerits are erased; perhaps ...

Duration of record?
I have read quite a bit about how long an offence stays on a driver's record and wanted to make sure I was following correctly, as there are some mixed messages. Also, I have a few questions for clarification.
Lets say there was an occurance Sept. 15th, 2012 and a charge of careless driving resulted October 9, 2012. It was taken to Early ...

Re: Will statement be used in court
Thank you.
I figured they will offer a lesser charge, and plan to be open to hearing it. Not sure they will go low enough though for it to balance out the risk of trial. She will face a 30 day suspension for any 4 point or over charge and will lose her job because of it...so it could be worth the risk at trial if the offer isn't significantly ...

Re: Will statement be used in court
Thank you for your reply and question.
The father of the other driver reported the accident with a statement from his child, and told me I needed to do the same. When we talked 5 days after the accident he said he was surprised the police had not yet contacted my daughter as he was told 3 days earlier they would be "looking for her". After hearing ...

Will statement be used in court
Hello. Thank you to the community for all the great info here, the help and information is greatly appreciated.
My daughter, G2 lic, has been charged with Careless Driving. We are currently waiting for a notice for a Early Resolution meeting.
I am wondering if it likely that the statement provided to the police will be admissable in court. I ...
