So what you are saying is: if you get convicted of Careless Driving (which is a serious charge) without an accident (for instance) the rate won't go up?
My understand is that Insurance companies care about convictions (besides at-fault accidents, of course) any traffic ticket may increase the insurance premium.
My question is regarding when a ...

Re: Just "beat" my Careless Driving charge thanks to you guy
Congrats! One thing I don't understand is, you said "I kept on driving still under insurance for a few months until my policy expired and was not renewed because my case was still pending. (The rate would have been around $9.000 to $12.000 a year)"
If you case is still pending and you are waiting for your trial you are not convicted of careless ...

Re: After accident, the police gave me a Careless Driving ti
Thanks for your responses.
A couple things:
- After the accident, the other driver said to me that he stopped fast because of the sun and sorta apologized.
- I told the cop that I slowed down as soon as the sun impaired my vision and I slammed on brakes as soon as I saw the car but it was too late
I guess the above doesn't matter though as its ...

Re: How long does it typically go to trial in Toronto?
Even when the officer didn't witness the actual fact that resulted in the ticket? In the case of a careless driving ticket where the officer shows up after the accident and hands out the ticket, is he still needed in court for the conviction?cibinv wrote:The officer is a witness. They have to testify to whom the wrote the ticket to any why.

witness in careless driving ticket
Had a minor accident, cop showed up and gave me careless driving ticket. I chose option 3, will fight the ticket and request disclosure when I receive the notice of trial. Since the cop didn't witness the accident, does he still need to be present (other than the other driver who is actually the witness) for me to be convicted in trial?
Thanks

Interpreter
For the ones that requested interpreter in court...at which point do you know if the interpreter is present and where is he/she in the room? Does the prosecutor tell you right away or you only know when you pledge not guilty and meet with the JP? If you take the deal from the prosecutor then you don't even see/talk or know that the interpreter is ...
