Re: Police refuses to charge (175)
When I lived in Richmond Hill this was a big problem on my street people were going 80-100km and it was mostly this Nissan 350Z with a kid driving it. One day when I was raking the grass between the sidewalk and the road he came burning around the corning and then full throttle down the road everyone was outside as it was one of the first nice days ...

I believe they will make an example with you, you got off once but clearly did not learn the lesson so they need to make it more harsh for you to get it. Your only hope is that your lawyer will find a fault in the charge (difficult as its a straight forward charge)

ok moving forward I am only going to have my complete original ownership in the car all of it. If it gets stolen and signed over who cares as the insurance will still cover it.
I am doing this to avoid any ticket happy cops in the future.

Thanks for the feedback, I will select option 2 and meet with the prosecutor with the original and the photocopy I had with me at the time. Now my stick was not attached to the photocopy I had it on the original slip with the photocopy but I assume they are not that picky.

It will get to a point where they write off the debit if they are unable to collect. If the debit is large enough your "buddy" may expect to be sued for what is owed and wages can be garnished.
Keep in mind these people want their money and won't stop until they get it.

I had something similar happen to me, a bike hit my car in a parking lot and since the biker had no way to paying and the damage to the car was high due to the type of car I sued in small claims court.
The damage to the car was $2700, and the court awarded me $3500 to cover court costs, time spent, and damages. The biker didn't pay so I needed to ...

I will be honest I a glad to see them handing tickets out to bikers. How many times do I see them feel like rules do not apply to them, if you ride on the road you need to follow the sale rules as a car. I also feel bikers on the road should carry full insurance.

I would post the video to see if its very obvious, I would fight the ticket with a trial citing the video of clear evidence of fraud. You can also place a call to the fraud department of the local police to see what they would recommend.

There is no way you are getting out of this unless the officer made some sort of fatal error on the ticket itself. There is not justification for going 185 in a 100 zone you could have killed someone.

Hi,
I received a ticket for 30 over, I had a resolution meeting and they dropped in to 19 over pts $77 fine + surcharge.
I received a letter in the mail for trial, when I called it turned out they made a mistake and didn't have me present it to the JP. They are still offering the same deal but I need to drive back 2 hours again on the trial date ...

Re: Two tickets need advice
Thanks for the advice! I will see what kind of offer they extend I don't mind 15km over and no points (I know points don't matter in my case) but the difference between a 30km/h ticket (major) and a 15km/h ticket seems to be a lot.
I would opt for the full blown trial but the courthouse is 2 hours away and is a bit of a pain.

Would they not offer a better deal if there is no tickets on my record period? or does this really make no difference at all? The prosecutor mentioned they would review my driving record to help make a decision.

That is all nice to say and I know you are questioning the officers integrity etc, but in your original post you said you never saw the odometer pass 140km/h. The officer charged you with going 140km/h so is it possible that at the moment when you looked at your odometer the offer was looking at this radar?

Two tickets need advice
ok so after 15 years of driving without a ticket I get two in a two month span.
One for 80 in a 50 zone full 30 over ticket.
One for 75 in a 60 zone reduced from 95 in a 60.
I am planning on paying the 15 over ticket and taking an early resolution meeting on the 30 over ticket.

after this can I still have a trial if I don't like the offer?

I have a quick question.
On option 3 there are two check boxes. 1) for request of a trial and 2) I plan on questioning the validity of the officers evidence.
