My transcripts have been ready, but they're $100.
I've been looking to drop the appeal and just a couple weeks ago I went to the courthouse to do so. Problem was I had to drive to another city to do it so I put it off till I had the time.
I had no idea what they planned on charging me as no charge was ever mentioned. I'm just looking drop the ...

Re: Side mirror collision on road with parked cars on one side
That's a good question. I'd imagine this falls under overtaking and passing . With no visible markings, you're allowed one-half of the roadway. Had the person been overtaking a section of parked cars and jumped into your half, they would clearly be at fault.
The question is when there's a large stretch of parked cars on one side where two vehicles ...

Re: Fines going up???
Effective Jan. 1, various fines will be doubling, tripling or even quadrupling, the OPP says.
The fine for driving without a seatbelt and child seat violations will now cost $240 instead of $110.
Red light violations will now set a driver back $325 instead of $110, or $490 instead of $110 in a Community Safety Zone.

Re: Court Date refused through mail?...
The process seems to be changing i've noticed. In Mississauga, you no longer get a trial date sent by mail. Trial dates are printed and handed to you on the spot. I don't remember if I had to sign it or not, but i'm pretty sure I did.
I don't know if it has anything to do with the new process, but the wait for your trial date is significantly ...

Re: Help, please! Is speeding ticket worth fighting?
Most moving violation are worth fighting unless the original non-reduced charge is something major. I wouldn't call 26 to 10 something to worry much about. I'm no paralegal, but i've been in your situation so i'll try to help you the best I can.

3. It is 2 years after the date of conviction. Say you pay today - you're guilty today, the clock starts ticking down. The offense stays on your record for life though, but for insurance purposes it is 3 years after conviction.
For demerit points, it's actually 2 years from the date of offense. If the trial takes 16 months, the points will ...

Re: Appeal is taking forever
Thanks for the replies. I didn't realize it could take so long. They simply told me to wait for a phone call, and i'm hoping they don't try to pull a "well we called you and now you're screwed" type scenario. I guess that's what i've been afraid of.

Appeal is taking forever
I had appealed a conviction 6 months ago. I'm still waiting on the city to serve me with transcripts. After almost four months I went to the courthouse just to make sure they haven't been trying to get a hold of me. The clerk didn't even bother looking. She said 4 months is too soon and they are really backed up. She said I was looking at a 6 month ...

Re: When do demerit points take effect?
Thanks for the reply. I pulled my abstract and the points definitely reflect the date of the offense, not the conviction date.

When do demerit points take effect?
Sorry for what seems like a simple question. The MTO website states "Demerit points stay on your record for two years from the offence date". Other places i've searched aren't really clear and hint that they may start at the date of conviction. If a trial takes 2 years to resolve from the offence date, have the points already been lifted off your ...
